munz · 20/12/2005 14:15

LMAO @ rom. builders bum! lol.

guess what - guess what the boss is giving us £50 each cash in hand bonus for xmas!

romilly · 20/12/2005 14:32

that is so tight munz! mine has now revised his offer of nothing to a grand which is more like it! maybe he realized he does want me back after all....

mind you he did want me to start my maternity leave officially from the beginning of jan. which i have just seen on maternity alliances website i dont have to do, as i have what is termed as "pregnancy-related illness" ie. hypertension. so if i have read it correctly i think he cant "trigger" my maternity leave until 4 weeks before my due date. does anyone know if this is correct? munz and friz you are good on these kind of things!

munz · 20/12/2005 14:40

rom - will have a quick look into it once i've done the labels and come back to u.

£50 is excellent for us! lol - last year we had nout. (well a set of 2 glasses) but this year we have £50 plus a pressie. (and we do get above inflation pay rises every april - last year's was 8% I think (or might be 7%) but we've done v well - profit's up by 20% and we're still in credit so it's been a v good year and i'm extreamly pleased as the accounts senior! lol.

romilly · 20/12/2005 14:55

you're a star munz. glad he is generous on the pay rise - that makes a big difference. my boss said no to a pay rise this year "because you won't even be here". so i'd have been v. peed off if he hadnt done a bonus as we have also had a good year - and i have struggled in throughout months of m/s and used my own holiday time as sick leave when i just couldnt make it in.

munz · 20/12/2005 14:59

ok rom print this booklet off IR web site

basically it tells u what u are/not entitled to and give it to him, u're entitled to the raise as u won't physically be there but u're still in his employement FT until u negotiate when you return iycwim.

the sickness thing - as i'm reading it, if u are off work sick 4 weeks b4 baby's due date then they can 'force' u if u like to switch to maternity pay/leave prior to that u can stay on sick pay. I understand this is the requirements your boss may decide other wise and be nicer about it.

munz · 20/12/2005 15:02

your 4 weeks b4 baby's born is 05.02.06

romilly · 20/12/2005 15:16

thankyou so much munz what would i do without you?

munz · 20/12/2005 15:20

lol I remeber it being earlier than that (I always thought it was 12 weeks b4 EDD if u were off sick u had to switch to SMP but it's been a long time since I did pure payroll - and I did stop doing it just after all the changes came in - 26 week SMP etc) reading it thou it clearly says 4 weeks (unless u're planning on going off earlier anyways of course)

romilly · 20/12/2005 15:23

well that would imply that i dont have to start the mat. leave until feb, so january he still has to pay me, right? he will love that!

romilly · 20/12/2005 15:25

serves him right for not giving me a pay rise anyway

munz - what did you decide about taking the baby to work with you?

munz · 20/12/2005 15:28

well yes as I read it, in theory if u are still sick 4 weeks b4 baby's born (05.02.06) u will have to tfr to SMP, until then he has to pay you SSP if you are off sick. he can't force you either to go onto SMP earlier as I read it.

(if you chose to go on mat leave b4 thou it would be your choice) and he would only have to pay the min SSP rate which at the mo I beleive is £68.20 it is again his choice if he want's to top up as it were.

munz · 20/12/2005 15:30

yes I'm not bringing jake to work, 2 reasons a) I don't know the full ins and outs of our insurance (I know we have liabilty etc but not too sure on the small print) and b) DH is refusing point blank that our son's left in the kitchen area alone asleep or not (it's only got a table sink and micro in it) but DH is saying either he looks after Jake, we get a minder or I work from home. so it looks like i'll get DH to do it - if I do come back.

Frizbethebumpedupreindeer · 20/12/2005 15:33

Hi all, Rom, I see Munz has beaten me to it! lol, you have all the info there you need, and make sure you get that payrise off him! can't believe he thinks he can get away with not giving you one.....last time I was on maternity, they got my pension calc's wrong and ended up paying me an extra grand to say sorry which was nice!
GTT Munz, Glucose Tolerance Test, very boring, as I think Rom said the other week! have to wait until next midwifes appt to see results, unless I ring the quacks in the meantime, which I think I'll do, as hospital were rather miffed that midwife hadn't done any paperwork for the tests (it was a standin midwife who saw me, not my usual who is fab!)
DQ sending you lots of baby out vibes, and SK sending you lots of baby staying in until after Xmas and New Year vibes!

romilly · 20/12/2005 15:57

thanks friz. hope your glucose test is all okay. i dont think i will push the pay rise tbh, as he is giving me 6 months additional maternity leave at 90% of my pay. so it kind of evens out i guess.

munz - does that mean your d/h will give up the army and become a house hubby then?

munz · 20/12/2005 16:00

ooh fingers crossed it's ok friz.

don't be daft rom! lol - he only works monday-thurs so i'd be able to come into the office on a friday. god i'd go mad if DH was a house husband - althou would also be nice to have a dinenr cooked when I came home and no house work! i'll jsut do 12 hours from home during the 4 days he's at work and 3 on a fri morning or something like that.

romilly · 20/12/2005 16:00

friz - what is the liver thingy you were talking about on antenatal thread then? i have caught pregnancy hypochondria and am wondering if i have got it as i have itchy legs too !!!

romilly · 20/12/2005 19:47

lol munz - i thought that sounded a bit radical! it will be perfect for you if you can share the childcare then. well, sort of share!

munz · 21/12/2005 09:49

lol - yes i'm quite looking forward to it really. got to buy a cookery book thou on cheap/quick meal ideas! lol.

althou i'm feeling so aprahensive (sp) about everything like time's really running out - I think i'm going loopy! lol.

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 21/12/2005 10:05

Hey all.
Rom, congratulations on finishing work early. It's wonderful being able to potter around at home & I've not missed work one bit!!

Wound myself up into a bit of a state over the weekend about wanting to have the baby before Christmas. A decent nights sleep has sorted me out though & now a lot calmer & feeling like it will happen when it's ready & theres not a thing I can do about it. Makes for a lot more of a peaceful household!!

My hands have decided to develop carpel tunnel thingy for the last few weeks of p/g. Crikey it hurts. Amazed DP gets any sleep with me groaning when I move, shaking my legs when they go to sleep and now flinging my hands around like I'm deranged!!
Lovely man did tell me that I looked wonderful last night (in my PJs, bar of choccy hanging out of my mouth, panda eyes where I'd rubbed mascara off!!). See he is learning!!

How is everybody today then?

MeAndMylittledrummerBoy · 21/12/2005 10:06

Morning
I just wanted to nip in quickly and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and best wishes for a great 2006 to everyone on the beanie thread.

Cadmum I hope that you're getting settled into your new home and have a lovely christmas (i'd like to say relaxing but that might be a bit optimistic )

Bella wishing you a 'Merry' Christmas lots of lovely baileys, and a great 2006 hoping for a beanie for you very very soon.

Wendy you're in my prayers and hoping for success for you over the next few weeks and into 2006 x

Lots of Love
Harrizeb

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 21/12/2005 10:10

Good luck to you too Harrizeb,

munz · 21/12/2005 10:13

santageorgeiscomingtotown · 21/12/2005 11:40

Hey Munz,
I've wrapped up some christmas pressies this morning ( 3 to be precise!!) so now I can't move! I'm gradually seizing up.
Been to my antenatal and she said "well, it's cooked!" & kept checking I have my bag packed - guess that is a good sign then.

How many weeks are you now Munzie? Time is flying past so quickly I can't keep up.

munz · 21/12/2005 12:05

lol george well cooked - i'm currently 29+3 gettin loads of kicks just lately! (can't feel him moving around thou just kicking everywhere.)

Nemoinapeartree · 21/12/2005 12:30

friz hope gtt is ok and it is boring as hell isnt it..lol

munz 29 wks time is flying past.

George hang in there hun its nearly time and once baby is here the last few weeks disappear I promise.

Not a lot going on here, mw been this morning and everything is fine, hannah is a little bit jaundice but nothing major so not got another visit till boxing day. Adam is being a bit of a tinker but to be expected. Although luckily it is all directed at dh and I rather than hannah so thats a bonus, am sure once he gets his ton of xmas presents he will be a happy camper.
