I'm 38 weeks tomorrow. All I want to do, now I'm on mat leave, is sit on my sofa and hide. 'Hibernating' might be a more generous way of putting it! I don't want to speak to anyone but DH. Not even emails Sad

Is this normal? Anyone else feel like this? DH and I live with my sister and she keeps on saying 'cheer up' 'when are you going to perk up' etc etc

I just want silence and peace and space to have a little weep occasionally!

it's fine.

you are conserving energy and preparing yourself.

bless you- last few weeks are tough

boogeek · 10/12/2010 15:54

It is absolutely normal and I did this in all three pregnancies. When people did speak to me I just growled Grin

bigkidsmademe · 10/12/2010 16:05

oh thank you. I'm so glad other people do it too

that's made me cry!

Mind you I cried this morning when I ran out of cheerios!

Does that make your due date Christmas day??? I would say you are very normal and probably very sensible hibernating. Look after yourself and rest as much as possible, there will be plenty of time to chat when people visit baby!
The last week of my first pregnancy I went to the shop once for magazines and that was it, the couch was the furthest I went other than that.
Good luck with the next couple of weeks. x

I felt like that during my last pregnancy and I think it's some sort of instinctive protective thing- you don't want to stray too far from home and you need to conserve your energy. All your thoughts focus inwards. Normal I'd say.

Me too, i'm 38+4 and at the moment i'm a right grumpy bi**h. I had a lunch booked with some girls from work today, forced myself to go but i wasn't very good company.

I'm going to continue to force myself to do stuff otherwise this could turn into a very lonely xmas.

I'm like that and I'm only 30 weeks. Just want the world to bog off and leave me alone. Think it's normal, tbh - my way of preparing for what's to come. Just can't be bothered with anyone or anything else.

bigkidsmademe · 10/12/2010 19:22

Boxing Day! Is that a Sunday not a Saturday?

Perhaps it is a protection / conserving energy thing then. Maybe it means I'm about to give birth???

I am like that at 30 weeks... and going with it! In my last pregnancy I had to work in an incredibly stressful situation all the way through and I just wasn't in a good place so this time I am indulging not having to do very much!

Margie32 · 11/12/2010 17:54

I feel exactly the same, am 37 wks and don't move off the sofa without a bloody good reason. I also don't want to talk to anyone, have even started not responding to text messages. Every time I do go out people start staring at/commenting on my enormous bump, which I find SO rude that it makes me want to punch them! So better that I stay inside methinks.

I like your theory that it's a protection/conserving energy thing for imminent labour, let's hope you're right Smile!
