Does anyone know when is normal to have your first scan in Canada?

I think they don't offer nuchal fold, so probably start with the abnormality scan at 20 (or so) weeks.

(And lots of people don't bother having those, either.)

Thanks, NQC!

in British Columbia it's the anomaly scan at 20 weeks. However, if you have an amnio they do a quick once-over to make sure everything is OK.

Where are you Suzy? I've just come back from Vancouver. Missing it dreadfully. Hopefully, we'll be back in a few years.

In Ontario I think it was at 20 weeks.

I have had babies in Alberta and am now expecting in Ontario. The nuchal fold scan is offered here to all pg women (regardless of age) between 11-14 weeks and then it is up to your care provider to determine a schedule from there.

In Alberta I was offered a scan between 17-20 weeks and then again as needed.

I was offered a dating/reassurance scan this time at 9 weeks as well due to previous missed miscarriages.

HTH.

My sister had one at about 20 weeks (Alberta). I remember thinking that I would have been mental by then without an earlier (12-week) scan, but there are some places in the UK where the 'anomaly' scan is the first one.

Soooo are there other Canadians on here?

Amanda, I grew up in Victoria (my parents stil live there). Wish I could go home too.

I should ask my mum about the policy in BC... She is a nurse so could easily find out.

I'm from Canada (Toronto + Montreal). I don't really miss it though - we go home every year, and by the end of the visit, I miss London!
