Im 16 weeks pregnant with my third and have a Cervical Suture in place to keep my cervix closed untill im 37 weeks.
I just wondered if anyone else was going through the same sort of pregnancy as me?

Hi Sum, I don't have the stitch, but I am being monitored very carefully (scans every 2 weeks) as I have had cervical cancer and most of my cervix removed last year. My high risk obstetrician has told me that my cervix is very very scarred (apparently scar tissue is very strong) so I will not need a stitch. I must admit that I am petrified that my cervix will just open one day and I will lose the baby but I have to trust that my Obs knows what she's doing and it won't come to that (if my cervix started dilating I guess they might stitch it later on).

I am just 14 weeks at the moment, but can imagine I will be more worried as my pregnancy progresses and the baby gets bigger/ heavier.

I will also need to have an elective c-section as it is unlikely that my cervix will be able to dilate properly due to the scar tissue.

Have you been diagnosed with cervical incompetency previously or have you had some kind of trauma or surgery to your cervix? I have a friend who had the stitch and carried to 37 weeks with no problems, hope the same goes for you!
