35.5 waters broke and then stopped

I'm wondering whether anyone else has experience this, about 4am yesterday I woke because there was a big gush of fluid, I smelt it etc was totally clear and didn't smell. I leaked for a little while longer then it stopped.

We assumed waters had broken so called hospital and they said to come in. On the monitor I was having small contractions every 5 mins, although not painful. When they did an internal they couldn't see any sign of leakage and ultrasound showed ok levels of fluid around the baby.
They monitored me all day, but no more fluid loss and no more contractions. So we were sent home.
Can this happen that some of your waters can break in a gush but still reseal? I'm certain it wasn't urine.

Lou did they do any swabs with a colour change thing? Is it possible your hind waters could've gone? Did they give you any advice on preventing infection just in case they have broken?

I'm thinking you might be in labour now, but if you're not its worth acting as if your waters have gone infection-wise; e.g. if you're not contracting don't go in the bath etc.

No they didn't do a colour change swab, they just looked internally and said there was no more leakage. I think because on the scan there was enough fluid round the baby they weren't worried.
All they've done is given me temperature sticks to take my temperature and make sure don't get an infection.
I've not really felt anymore contractions but have only been resting.

Maybe you could order some amniosense pads - like sanity towels, but detect amniotic fluid. Not sure where you get them but googling should bring them up. Then if it happens again you can be sure, and have evidence for the MWs, that it was amniotic fluid and not just wee. IME they are keen on patronisingly telling you you've peed yourself.
