how many weeks are u?

chipmonkey · 26/09/2005 18:34

JIFDA, I bled all through my last pg. Ds3 was born early (32 weeks ) but is very healthy. I think pain is usual with a miscarriage. Try not to worry.

jamboure · 26/09/2005 18:34

I bled a lot with ds1 but then I had placenta praevia- low lying placenta

JIFDA · 26/09/2005 22:16

Iam 11 weeks+4. in the evening it has usually been wearing off but tonight just as i was going to bed it is bright red again. I really dont know what is happening, I still have no pain & feel sick all day without being able to eat much at all. I am getting more & more worried & it is putting a strain on the whole family, we already have a dd6, ds5 & ds3.

Jifda i had bleeding like this when i was 6 weeks pregnant...trust the scans! on my 6 week scan they could see the heartbeat!
will you be having any more if the bleeding continues?

from what i can gather bleeding in pregnancy isn't THAT unusual... there seem to be quite a few people on here who have had it and gone on to have healthy babies (including me)

JIFDA · 27/09/2005 10:46

starlover did they give you a reason for the bleeding, & when it may stop????

horseshoe · 27/09/2005 10:59

JIFDA... I bled for 5 weeks from 12 weeks through to 17.... The scans are encouraging and for everyday that the baby survives your one step closer....I did not have any clotting and I think that is a big thing but I did have a little pain. The bleeing sometimes seemed to stop but would start up again.

A possible explanation for your bleeding is that around this time the placenta begins to push up as the baby moves up into your womb...sometimes a small part of the placenta can detach itself causing bleeding....however in 70% of cases, the placenta fixes itself and you go on to have a normal pregnancy. The other 30% of cases m/c but this is usually with 24 hours of the start of the bleeding....

Try not to worry and take it easy!!

I am currently 26 weeks pregnant and had a bleed at 13 weeks and a bleed at 15 weeks. Both times there was no pain and dotors found a heamatoma ( type of bruise) on my cervix. So many things can cause bleeding including infections so go to A&E again and get checked. Demand another scan and ask if anything can be seen. Sometimes bleeding can just be cervical erosion and can seem like loads when really its a tiny amount. Go and get checked so you can relax again!

JIFDA

i bled from 6 weeks, scans showed the baby was alive and had a heartbeat, unfortunately I went on to m/c a week or so later. I have no idea why that was as I thought you could only m/c if the baby had died

are you having any more scans?

JIFDA · 27/09/2005 11:43

thank you all so much for your info. I have my 12 week scan on friday but I am in 2 minds as to whether I should ring epac & have another scan to check everything is okay, part of me wants to know & part of me is petrified of knowing.I had 2 scans last week & they said the baby showed all signs of a healthy pregnancy & the baby had a strong heartbeat. they said the blood was coming from me & not the baby & that it was from the womb but they could offer me no other explanation as to why?

OP posts:
Enid · 27/09/2005 11:44

well if you were me I would ring the epac as I am a stroppy cow

good luck hope everything is OK for you x E

JIFDA...

I was told the same thing with my bleeding....I'm now 24 weeks pregnant....

I have had other problems but not too sure if they are because of the bleeding and they are quite rare (just wanted to let you know in case you had seen any of my other threads)

If the bleeding hasn't changed in amount or colour there is no reason to suggest that the baby isn't still beating away in there, I would phone the EPAU if you are that worried though just for your own assurance.

horsehoe did they give you a reason for your bleeding? How long did yours last & was it worse at any point during the day? sorry for all the questions.

OP posts:
horseshoe · 27/09/2005 13:54

Yes....

It started at 12 weeks the afternoon of my first scan....

I woke up needing the toilet and my knickers were wet....after I had been to the toilet there was blood down there.....

There seemed to be more blood after I wee'd as opposed to when I just wiped myself.

It was very heavy for the first couple of days but after that became like a bright red colour upon wiping myself. Much more than spotting but not full on blood. If I walked around I would stain but it would ease off when I relaxed. Sometimes mornings after I woke up needing the loo it would be heavier.

All of my scans were fine and I was never given a reason only that of the placenta moving up and disconnecting slightly. The bleeding continued for 5 weeks!!!

Does this sound anything like yours?

horseshoe · 27/09/2005 14:12

Just wanted to add that I have also suffered m/c in the past and it all happened within a week. The pain was more period like pain whereas with this bleeding I just got a heavy type feeling if I had been walking around which faded quickly after a rest!

starlover · 27/09/2005 16:17

jifda they could find no reason for my bleeding at all... and all turned out well
it lasted for a couple of weeks iirc!

have also had a miscarriage at 6 weeks too, so was very scared but that came on very quickly after i first started to bleed and i was bleeding much more heavily

JIFDA · 27/09/2005 19:08

horseshoe thanks for your info again. my bleeding does sound very similiar to yours & I have no pain. I find it does ease off if i rest but with 3 other children 6 & under this is very difficult! I think I shall try & hang in there for my scan on friday, hubby is busy at work this week & it would mean I would have to go iwth my youngest on my own, which I dont fancy much. I know to stop worrying i probably should but I cant face it.

horseshoe · 28/09/2005 09:14

Jifda....I know what you mean....you wont stop worrying about them now until long after they have hit 18+

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and let us know how Friday goes!

chipmonkey · 28/09/2005 10:22

JIFDA, I bled from 4 weeks, mostly just spotting and no pain. At 14 weeks it stopped but I then got a bleed at 24 weeks which continued on till I had an Emergency C-Sectiopn at 32 weeks due to placenta praevia. My ObGyn said there was no connection between the early bleeding and the late bleeding but my theory is that the baby implanted low down in the first place. Anyway, he's healthy now but knows his own mind!

JIFDA · 28/09/2005 11:38

This morning I hardly had any discharge at all & then when i to the the loo it was almost like jelly & stretchy & brown & reddy in colour(Sorrytmi!)Does anyone know what this could be????? I still have no pains at all & still feel really sick.

OP posts:
horseshoe · 28/09/2005 12:07

When you say stretchy was it mucusy??? it could be discharge mixed in with old blood which I did have with my bleeding on a few occassions.... I was convinced I had abnormal levels of discharge but it wasn't.

If it's more than that it could be a show which is worrying...phone your EPU and ask advice. Im sure it's the former but if it is a show there's not alot anyone can do...this early on in pregnancy though I would have thought you would have an almost immediate heavy bleed afterwards.

JIFDA · 28/09/2005 13:24

horseshoe, yes it was mucussy & I havent had any bleeding since, this is so worrying everyday a new thing seems to occur. I am hanging in there for my scan a.m. on friday & hope all is well.

OP posts:
horseshoe · 28/09/2005 14:11
