32 wks - big bump measurement & growth scans?

Hi

not sure if anyone can help or shed light on it. i went to my midwife yesterday - and she measured my bump and said it seems bigger than it should be... so I have a growth scan appt booked for 2 weeks time.

She said it's probably nothing to worry about, but the scan will just check on the baby.

Anyhow - has anyone had a similar thing - am i going to have a giant baby? Or does it mean the baby will be earlier than the EDD... or is there any other advice anyone can offer? Confused

My bump was measuring way ahead from 30 weeks was measuring 34/35 weeks, scan also said vv big baby, ended up baby was 8lb8oz and I had a lot of fluid.

Meant to say, don't worry it's pretty common, I was hoping to go early but no such luck.

I was measuring 2 weeks ahead from about 30 weeks, and have now measured 1-2 weeks smaller for the last 2 weeks, and this week am 38 weeks and measuring 37.5 weeks. Think it probably evens itself out, and its hardly an exact science with a tape measure!

Midwife measurements are quite commonly inaccurate. I'm measuring 1 1/2wks bigger and getting a scan next week. I'm thinking of it as another chance to see baby :)

I was told I was measuring 4 weeks ahead (!) so had 2 growth scans- both showed baby as totally spot on for dates...

I measured a week ahead with all of my pregnancies. With my last at 37 weeks I was suddenly measuring 4+ weeks ahead. I had a scan the same day and awell as a big baby (9lbs 9oz 9 days early) I had a lot of excess fluid.

Hi - I measured large for dates at about 35 weeks. I went for scans which predicted a huge baby (around 10-11lbs if left to go to full term). It was because I'd developed gestational diabetes which I controlled for few weeks with diet and I was then induced at 38 weeks. DS was born at 8lb8oz - much smaller than predicted (though he had a big head - part of what they base the calculations on).

Things like this of course can be worrying but I figured that it was just good practice to check that everything is going okay, and to find out early if there was anything they needed to keep an eye on. It was lovely to get to see DS in the extra scans I got - but as we didn't want to know the gender until the birth I did make sure to tell the midwives to tell me to look away anytime there was anything obvious on screen! Good luck with the scan!

I consistently measured 4-5 weeks ahead with my first and had a couple of growth scans. Was induced at 39 wks and out came baby at 8 15oz and alot of water.
Am 34 wks with DC2 now and again measuring 4 wks ahead but not worried

Oooh - so there's light at the end of the tunnel. Don't mind if it's a big baby (well - you know what i mean) - just worried in case it wasn't healthy. So you've all put my mind at rest.

I'm also a big girl - so it's only like i've been showing really in the last month - so I wonder how much of the "bump" is actually bump - rather than my wobbly stomach! Xmas Blush
