Is this a show? (TMI)

I have just been to the loo and wiped, and a load of jelly-like stuff was on the tissue. Now I always thought a show was streaked with blood? Was this a show? I am 34+2 with dc4, but have never gone into labour naturally, or had a show or anything, as I've been induced with all the others. Is it a bad thing if it was a show? Surely it's a bit early? Can you have a show ages before you go into labour?

I am on antibiotics for a bad chest infection, but I've never had this jelly stuff when I've been on AB's before, I've had thrush while on AB's, but this isn't a thrushy sort of thing IYKWIM. Could having a chest infection that the AB's don't seem to have cleared properly make me go into early labour? I finish the AB's tonight, I have an antenatal tomorrow morning, but am now quite concerned as it's not anything I have had any experience of.

Am I likely to go into premature labour? I haven't even packed my hospital bag! HEEEEELLLLPPPPPP!!!

It sounds like a show so might be worth phoning your MW or hospital and see what they say.

Some ladies do have a show and then wait ages for labour so don't panic too much.

Oh DEAR! I think when DP gets in from work later I may have to at least pack my bag. What with getting christmas sorted, I've been putting it off! Would it be terrible to wait till 8.30pm to phone the MW? I don't want to ring the MW and have her tell me to go in before DP gets home.

My back has really hurt today as well, I just put it down to being too busy, and I for no apparent reason, couldn't sleep AT ALL last night. I've also got a sore tummy muscle, but I assumed that was down to coughing too much with the chest infection....Oh god I'm going to have to call the MW, aren't I.

You can have a show weeks before labour starts. Have you had any contractions at all? I'd say you can probably relax - you'll know when you're in labour.

i'd phone them now, but i don't think having a show necessarily means you'll go into labour.

My last labour wasn't really painful until DS2 crowned - I didn't really feel contractions at all, if I had been at home I wouldn't have left for the hospital until he was crowning, and would probably have had him at home! It's only cos I was induced that I was already AT the hospital. I think that's why I'm so concerned!

Show doesn't have to be bloody and my MW says it looks like egg white so it's possible! Speak to your MW as soon as you can and see what she thinks.x

It is quite common to lose bits of your plug early if it's not your first pregnancy because the cervix isn't as tightly closed once you've given birth once.

Obviously phone your midwife if you have much more, have other labour symptoms or are worried, but I don't think it means that labour is necessarily imminent
