Has anyone else experienced this/ have an explanation....?
13 wks pg and have developed a rancid taste in my mouth. Its a bit like old chips ie a stale fatty taste. It isnt a metallic taste.
My diet is ok, not too fatty, lots of fruit and fluids. The taste is making me heave and has been there for about a week. Has anyone else had this?

yes unfortunately. Its like that catarh taste you get when you get a cold, makes everything taste horrible. I used to chew mint gum, unfortunately I still get it now from time to time. Its horrid you have my sympathies. xx

I get this, exactly as you describe, and had it through most of last pregnancy too. Does strong chewing gum and lots of tooth brushing help?

Wow thanks, I'm not a freak then!
To be honest, eating anything apart from rancid fatty food helps...but thats not doing my weight any good. Water is the worst offender at the moment, makes me gag.
Have found an interesting idea when googling (I know, I know, a dangerous thing to do..) someone suggested it was a zinc deficiency. Now that might be possible as I have had to stop taking pg supplements. Might scoff some zinc rich foods to see what happens. Someone else suggested lemon juice would help...will try anything

I still get that taste at 25 weeks. Try an ice pole or ice lolly - I find that helps.

the horrid taste in my mouth was my first symptom of being pregnant. nothing seemed to shift the taste
