Hi all i'm about 6 weeks (don't know for sure) and im so impatient waiting on the midwife getting in touch! i was at the GP almost 2 weeks ago and thought I would have heard by now. I have the midwifes number but its just going to answerphone. ARGH!

There's no rush TBH - and some MWs won't book you in before 6 or 7 weeks as the risk of miscarriage is so high!

9 months can feel like a long time at the beginning. I'm at 5 months now and it seems to have flown by though and I'm a bit worried about how quickly April will come around.

You need to have your booking in by 10 weeks so there's no rush. I hate to say it but sometimes they leave it a bit to book you in because right now if something went wrong (and the m/c rate up to 7 weeks is reasonably high but much lower thereafter) there's nothing they can do. I'm sure your little bean is safe and there's nothing to worry about but there's no need to rush for the appointment either. I was massively disappointed with mine - blood pressure check, urine check, 10 mins of medical history, was given huge pile of leaflets and shown the door! I'm afraid it doesn't really get exciting until the 12 week scan!

If you're worried they haven't booked an appointment for you then check with the receptionist at the clinic the midwife is operating from or with your GPs receptionist (same person at my clinic) that they sent a referral if you didn't have to book the appointment yourself. Much better than bothering busy MWs with non medical queries.

I know how you feel! But our mw don't book you in till after your 12 week scan here! Like happycamel said, I'm nearly 19 weeks and it seems to be rushing by!

I know how you feel... I'm 31 weeks and have been impatient for each next stage since my BFP!! But then am an impatient person. Time not flying for me, is so s-l-o-w, but I'm really excited Grin.
Congrats btw - am sure you'll hear soon - think I was booked in at 8 weeks : 0

Thanks everyone im just getting really annoyed that i dont even know how far along I am! It hasn't really sunk in yet and i think meeting my midwife would make it seem real.

Well finally got hold of the antenatal unit and they've said the midwife won't be in touch until about 10weeks in. It feels like forever but at least when I meet her I'll only have 2 weeks until a 12week scan!

I'm 22 weeks and still feeling very impatient! Though I'm impatient to meet my baby now and that's still a long long way off!

Congrats on your pregnancy Laura05 - I found the first 12 weeks unbearably slow.. Literally unbearable so I booked a private scan at 9 weeks which was great!

Smiler80 · 03/12/2010 15:39

I know what you mean Laura05! I am 9 weeks today, and finally my booking appointment is looming in 1 week's time.

The first three weeks took aaaaaaages - especially since I was waiting for my mum to come back from holiday so I could finally tell someone (other than dp of course :) )!

Time is going a bit quicker now, but I really can't wait for the 12 week scan, and then the next scan to find out the sex which is another 2 months later! 9 Months seems like a lifetime...

kitten2909 · 07/12/2010 15:51

I've been feeling the same way Laura05! I hadn't heard anything from the midwife or hospital after i saw the doctor...seemed to be taking forever and when i chased it, my notes had been sent to the wrong hospital! i've got my booking in appt on the 29th and scan on NYE! so fingers crossed xx chin up :)
