Just had a trip to hospital to monitor naughty non moving baby, and had to have an internal exam (yuk) and the poor doctor/midwife must have thought I was an escaped gorilla.
DH is going to shave my monstrously hairy legs tonight.
Thankfully baby is fine!

glad baby is ok - my legs are fine, its my lady jungle garden that l find embarassing. DH has offered - l have refused (l've seen the state of his chin sometimes!)

wish you could just mark these posts as "like" as you can on FB lolol. I can't see my lady garden, and haven't been able to for years but I must admit to shaving my tummy before my scan last week. You could almost plait it in places

Hahaha love it! I think I need to get OH to help in that department too, I can hardly see or reach now, especially with the spd/back issues.

I have had to shave my tummy - dh thinks hilarious, especially as it's now stubbly!

men are sooooo cruel lol. Until they have to go for a check up or something and its like its the worst thing ever lolol.

This is so funny!! I too had to go into hospital last night and unexpectedly had an internal..and was MORTIFIED .

I can see my va jay jay any more and hadnt even thought about shaving for months !!!! poor sod..... and like you everything turned out fine.

To be honest, I wouldn't be bothered if I had to have exams etc and my legs and bits were monstorously hairy! I'm a nurse and I don't think I've ever noticed if someone was de-fluffed or not. You'd have to be pretty smelly for me to notice, let alone care!!

Heh, I was totally not expecting even an internal scan at my 18 week scan so I didn't bother with any of that as I didn't have time when I left that morning.

Imagine my "joy" when they had to check my cervical length (ultrasound only) and found out I was to have surgery that evening to have a rescue stitch. With no opportunity to shave, I spent over an HOUR legs in stirrups and an all male large medical team poking about where the sun don't shine

To be fair I was more worried about the baby (she was fine in the end, the stitch saved her) but that didn't stop me feeling embarrassed too!

Ah, what can you do! :) I'm sure they've seen it all before, doesn't stop us cringing though!

I ventured to my lady garden yesterday after my DH looked at me with a slight grimace on his face and said "you haven't seen down there for a while have you?"

Now its pruned and he's not going to see down there for a while. So there!

Managed it at nearly 38 weeks too!

Lady garden area can stay as it is for me. I can't see it, so I don't care!
Legs are now smooth and hair free, and hopefully the next hospital trip will be in 7 weeks time, for a cs, and not before!

I don't imagine any of the medical staff really care, whether it's hairy legs or hairy muffs. They spend all day staring at them and see all sorts after all. Maybe if you had a bit of vajazzle going on you'd raise an eyebrow.

I had to go to hospital last week as I was itching like mad and they wanted to check for OC.

The doctor wanted to look at the rash on my legs.

I did apologise for the state of my forest and he actually asked me if I thought he cared!

Ok, he didn't but didn't stop me feeling very .

They really need doing but the spots on my lags that keep bleeding due to my scratching tell me otherwise!

i've been keeping everything trimmed and tidy from around 25 weeks 'just in case'!

can't imagine letting hubby do it for me so have been trying in vain to wrap my legs around my head with various mirrors positioned to get a good enough view. am totally paranoid i'll slip with the razor and do myself a damage!

Seriously. Why and for how long must women feel the need to keep removing their pubic hair? And DPs/DHs are telling pregnant women that that they need to tidy up? Do people think that doctors honestly care about this kind of thing??

I am laughing here while trying not to let hubby see, how do I explain what I am reading, I know he won't want to hear it :o

Worst thing I ever had, being OTT about being clean down there when I had an internal, and had to nip to loo before hand, used plenty of tissue to wash and dry....which would have been ok, had I not still had most of that tissue on when they came to examine me. Oh the shame

oh lol! this is making me laugh! esp Goodlifemummy and tlise- I feel embarassed when I remember its so unkempt- as I can't see it I forget! my friend told me of how she was in labour and was trying to shave her legs in the shower inbetween contractions- she only managed 1 leg before her incredulous DH told her to get out so they could get to hospital!

I am proud of my lady garden and it stays, forever. Legs get shaved when necessary, so really only during the summer. Honestly, men think we have nothing better to do.

My mum never shaved her lady garden, I haven't figured out how to do it, so tough. My doctor has to deal with it. I'm a natural woman!

And I owuldn't want to slip with the razor either actually .

Came across this by accident as am not pregnant but a work colleague once accidently sprayed glitter spray on her lady garden to freshen herself up was meant to be a bit of deo, instead she was nice and sparkly.

Oh and when i was pregnant I did get DH to do a trim - mainly because the midwives advised it so it wasn't all too sticky upped togther with blood afterwards so another reason to keep it trimmed

SaraL similar story, My mum was 16 when she had me, and I have never brought up the subject with her, but I do know that she wouldn't get in the ambulance until her full face was on....my father said despite her agony she wasn't moving for the hour it took lol. He couldn't call the ambulance till she was about ready.

Must admit I don't do mine...only did it once and it itched so bad never touched it again, it obviously doesn't get in the way or I wouldn't be pregnant now

never forget after having DD tho, it took them 2 hours to break my water due to angle of cervix, and they were tough....luckily it was a female doc, but it was bad enough, especially when afterwards she shrieked down the ward, oh its you, I didn't recognise you from out of between your legs

blimey... I don't think I've ever even thought about the state of my pubes when going for an examination or giving birth - I really don't think the Drs care & even if they did, so what?!

Do you all book a bikini wax before every smear test just incase the nurse should notice a stray hair?

Hilarious posts! Thanks so much for making me laugh. I was more irritated about my chipped nail varnish than my lady garden when I had my DS!

I think it is silly things like this you worry about though....unless you are the sort to regularly show your bush off to the world as an everyday occurrence :o I try to tell myself that they see that sort of thing everyday, but its not normal behaviour to have someone peering down there let alone shoving their hand up, so its bound to be embarrassing.

However, dignity and pregnancy do not go hand in hand....by the time you are in the throes of labour, you wouldn't care if you were being filmed live for mtv lol. Which would explain the daring souls that do birthing video's for public viewing... and just as you start getting your dignity back a little, they call you in for a smear.....Men have it soooo much easier lol.

BustleInYourHedgerow I totally agree. I don't shave my body at all - most men don't, so why should I if I don't want to? I like the way I look, I feel a million times more confident than I used to when I shaved.

Fair enough if people want to, but saying that it's necessary, or something to be deeply ashamed of if you don't do it, is kind of sad.

This is awful; very, very sad. I hope my DD has a confident body image and frequents the 'Feminism' topic when she is older. I couldn't bear for her to feel her body is somehow embarrassing, wrong or offensive. As has already been said, how many of you insist on DP's testicles or armpits to be shaved? Well??

I think people should do whatever makes them feel comfortable, and I know this was supposed to be a light-hearted thread, but agree it's not very nice to be suggesting that it's somehow disgusting or shameful to have normal-looking female body parts. As for DH/DPs commenting on it and 'grimacing' not good at all.
