I've just come back from the Doctors appointment to get a coil fitted, I took a urine sample so they could do a pregnancy test 'to be on the safe side', neither the nurse or the doctor thought I'd be pregnant because I've been on the pill and bfing my 6 month old ds. Well two positive results later and they admitted they'd never seen this before. I feel stunned, the last 6 months have been a bit of a nightmare with ds still up 4 or 5 times a night to feel for between 30 mins and 60 mins each time, I feel like my eyes are burning p;ssholes in the snow and I can fall asleep standing up (if I get the chance) Neither me or my DH were contemplating another baby. I don't know whether to laugh or cry (did both at the doctors!). I don't understand why it took a year of trying to have the first dc but the second has popped along despite all the odds. Really don't know what to think, my head is scrambled. Confused

Take it as a blessing lost, it is a lovely Xmas surprise. Take it as an early girt Smile

And Congratulations!

"gift" Grin

LostInTransmogrification · 01/12/2010 15:33

Thanks strumpet, I'm hoping that's what I'll think when the shock wears off. Now I've just got to tell DH! (didn't think it was fair to drop it on him at work!)

Congratulations!! When are you due?

Similar thing happened here though not quite so soon.

At least you'll get all you're sleepless nights over with in one go! Or something else equally annoying reassuring Grin

doughnutty · 01/12/2010 15:34

your OMG how embarrassing.

piprabbit · 01/12/2010 15:40

On the bright side - some the exhaustion may be pregnancy related and might start dropping off soon. Do you know how far along you are?

LostInTransmogrification · 01/12/2010 15:42

In my state of mind I doubt I'd have noticed the spelling Smile

I think I'm due between May and July. They idn't say, think they realised (from the laughing/crying) that I would be best to go back next week for an appointment!

The earliest I could have conceived is middle of July. Do you have to be about 6 weeks pg before it shows up on a test?

I know you're up a lot now with DS but things will have calmed down during your pregnancy.

Also, and I only suggest this because my SIL has gone through this with my nephew recently who is 8 months - could you get a sleep consultant in? It really worked with my nephew and much of her advice was about diet, routine etc. Just a thought to get you some sleep.

Congratulations.

LostInTransmogrification · 01/12/2010 16:02

Thanks flaming, thinking about a cranial osteopath, plus getting DH to 'persuade' him back to sleep when DH is on his Christmas hols, otherwise DS smells milk and will not give in! I just remember how tired I was when I was pregnant and I was free to slink off to bed at 8:30. No option for that this time!

My friend had her first 2 13 months apart, found out when ds was 4 months old she was pregnant again. Once the shock wore off, which it did eventually, it was fine! When she told me she burst into tears. They are now 5 and 4 and lovely together, they can't remember a time without each other and they are very close. Oh and another friend used a cranial and homeopath for her dd sleeping which did the job :) Good luck breaking it to dh!

LostInTransmogrification · 01/12/2010 16:40

Hi knackered, same thing happened to DMil, and DC1 was a nightmare,DC2 was great. Fingers crossed!

LostInTransmogrification · 01/12/2010 18:48

Hi Arabella, DH is happy but a bitstunned like me! Def wants it but thinking 'oh god more sleepless nights'! Have phoned the local midwife unit to set up booking appt., they thought it was very funny!

Congratulations! I know it may seem like a shock, my pg was and I'm still not quite sure how it happened, but I think everything happens for a reason. Mine on paper seemed so incredibly impractical in so many ways, but you adapt and just make it work. Glad to hear you have such a loving and supportive DH too. You only have to read some of the ttc threads on here to realise just what a blessing any pregnancy is. Hope things work out well for you! x

LostInTransmogrification · 01/12/2010 21:09

Thanks Glittery, I'm just wondering if I'll end up with two DCs with the same birthday (anything to take my mind off remembering the birth!)

My sister had her two youngest within the same year (January and December), they are in the same class in school and very close.
Only problem has been the homework cheat, they used to split it between them, do half each and copy eachother! Grin
They are great kids and have so much company in eachother, I think for siblings it's great to be born close together, and future family holidays will be a lot more relaxed when they have a mate with them.
Good luck with it!

LostInTransmogrification · 02/12/2010 11:57

Thanks ImpatientCat, after a bit of a sleepless night I'm starting to look forwards to it!
