Saw midwife today, asked her what the heart beat was and she said 'high end of normal'.

So, whaddya reckon? Boy, or girl?

Ooh, don't know, but HB of this baby yesterday was between 150 and 160.

Everything OK at the midwife? Lovely to hear the HB isn't it?

dinny · 23/09/2005 21:36

over 140 is a girl, so they say.... true with both mine.

vickitiredmum · 23/09/2005 21:38

I was told if it sounds like a train its a boy and if it sounds like a galloping horse its a girl. Seeeeemed to be the case with my two but these old wives tales.........

Cadmum · 23/09/2005 21:38

Girl. (Just my experience though.) DD was always high both DSs were never above 140.

(Am now 16 weeks and this one is always over 150 so I am hoping to be correct as DD would love a sister.)

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 23/09/2005 21:39

i dont know! Jess was always high 150's and this one seems to be stead at 140...... will let you know in a few weeks!

Thomcat · 23/09/2005 21:46

Ummmm, now I think I wish I hadn't asked!
I don't want to know, I don't want to know.

TC, I'm pretty sure DS was about the same as the HB I heard yesterday - I remember thinking "That's fast for a baby I am positive is a boy" - didn't find out with him either (well, until he was born, obv ) - just knew he was a boy. This time though - no clue!

Nemo1977 · 23/09/2005 21:48

tc ds was always under 140 this baby seems to do 145-155...

dinny · 23/09/2005 21:49

everyone I know who had a girl had hb over 140!! it's a girl, Hunk!

dinny · 23/09/2005 21:50

sorry, Thomcat! And Hunker!

Thomcat · 23/09/2005 21:51

I DON'T WANT TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PMSL! Have been having "convinced it's a boy" feelings lately - but also had many "convinced it's a girl" feelings too. Will be one or the other, I suppose!

I love the not knowing but guessing - don't you, TC?

hunkermunker · 23/09/2005 21:52

If it was as simple as that to tell what you were having, everyone would know whether they asked at the scan or not - don't worry, TC, it's not scientific.

99redballoons · 23/09/2005 21:52

Hi Thomcat, I too had heard that anything 150 and over was a girl. My ds was 140 the whole time. Have resisted asking the exact number with this pg (no. 2)! However, a good friend of mine looked just like me carrying ds and had a hb of 140 and we all swore it would be a boy, but it was a girl (beginning of June)! So you never can guess...

Thomcat · 23/09/2005 21:52

mw told my sil that based on heart beat her baby no.2 was a girl (baby was shy on the scans), but it was a boy.

can't remember what the heart rate was for either of mine but even if we hadn't wanted to know what ds was, unfortunatly it was obvious on the scan and pic!

blueteddy · 23/09/2005 22:00

When I was in labour with ds2, his heartbeat went right up to 190bpm! It was quite concerning & obviously, he was a boy!

Hazellnut · 23/09/2005 22:01

dd's was 120 - 150 during monitoring for a whole 3 days before she was dragged out ! So, doesn't support the whole boy/girl heart beat thing just to throw spanner in works.

clary · 23/09/2005 22:02

girl
ds1's was 110 when I was pg, so low mw thought it might be mine
oops, sorry, just seen you don't want to know!!!!

blueteddy · 23/09/2005 22:05

My friend, who had a baby the week before me, was told my MW's that she must be having a girl, because of the high heart beat throughout her pregnancy.
She gave birth to a little boy!

BunnyBoo · 23/09/2005 22:07

Well, This one has been very high between 150-165 and i had no idea what it was i also had feelings of a girl one week then feelings of a boy the next, It is a girl because we found out!!

With ds he had a low hb of 130-140 and i also new from day one that it was a boy and i was right

BunnyBoo · 23/09/2005 22:08

I deffo think your having a girl hunker but not to sure about you TC

hunkermunker · 23/09/2005 22:34

I'm still in "sure it's a boy" mode - next week will be different, I think!

eidsvold · 24/09/2005 09:59

if it is any consolation TC - dd2's heartbeat whilst in the womb was registering on the male end of the scale - EVERY time - so much so that the GP asked me what the old wives' tale was - and when we checked it - dd2 was always under the 140... but of course she was not a ds but a dd...

Blossomhill · 24/09/2005 09:59
