New- not understanding abreviations

Hiya,

I'm new to the boards, and so have started reading some of the current posts to find my feet. However, I am completely lost with the abreviations.

DH, DC, DD, DC1, DC2. Huh?

Can someone give me a heads up as to common abreviations used?
