I know this doesn't have much to do with this. But I really need some help. I've recently just turned 16 and I had sex with my boyfriend two weeks back, I'm on the pill and we used a condom but I still am very very very worried. I haven't come on my period yet and quite frankly I don't know what else to do except ask for some help on here? I can't talk to my mum about this as she has ridiculous amounts of stress to deal with without me worrying her with this. Please help? What can I do? Blush:(

Go to Superdrug, buy a test, wee on stick, report back. good luck : )

Hello Lexie.

When is your period due?

Do you have the money to buy a test?

If the condom stayed in place then it is fairly unlikely that you are pregnant, but it would be better to know one way or another.

LexieHx · 27/11/2010 12:48

It was due three days ago, I've spoke to my friend who said I should wait a little longer, I'm just worried. Yes I do have the money to buy a test, but how long do I have to wait before it can tell me if I am or not?

You can do a test from the day your period is due and once you have weed on the stick, it takes a couple of minutes to show positive or negative.

My understanding is that a positive result is rarely wrong, but a negative result can sometimes be wrong if you test too early, so if its negative and your period still hasn't arrived a few days later, you should test again.

Hope that helps :)

Hi Lexie,

Take a test now if you're still worried, although it sounds unlikely you'd be pregnant. Test tend to work very well after your period is due so you'll be fine if you do one now.

LexieHx · 27/11/2010 12:58

Ok, I will go today and buy one, Is there any pacific one I should buy or will any be fine? Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it. :)

I don't think there is any particular one.

Good Luck :)

Come back and let us know how you get on because we are nosey Smile

Hi Lexie,

try not to worry. It seems unlikely you are pregnant. Periods can be late for other reasons. This happened to me a few months ago and it appeared a week late. I got a negative pregnancy test the day after it had been due.

Any test you can buy in a chemist will be fine at this stage (as your period is already late).

As Norma says, let us know how you get on.

LexieHx · 27/11/2010 14:01

Ok thank you! It's so nice to be able to come on here and have people that don't even know me advice on what to do! I have to get one tomorrow now as I have dancing all day. So I will come back and tell you all tomorrow! Thanks all :)

When I bought my test, I got a pack of two from sainsburys for £4. And it (well both of them) worked just fine, and I was only a couple of days late. Don't worry about buying the expensive ones, the cheap own-brand ones are just as good, they're probably the same tests in different packaging. Good luck - let us know what happens. x

LoopyLoops · 27/11/2010 21:58

Get the cheapest test possible. The expensive ones tell you before your period is due, but you don't need that. Make sure you read the instructions twice and do absolutely everything in the right order and leave it for as long as the instructions say.

If you are using contraception, then unless you missed pills or the condom split, the chances are very much that you aren't pregnant. Periods can be late through stress, change of diet, change of routine, or just for the hell of it. Don't worry, and let us know.

Just make sure you continue being responsible and use condoms. Remember that pregnancy really isn't the biggest issue, keep yourself safe.

:)

It seems unlikely that you are pregnant, but do the test, and take some advice from a very pregnant woman, pee in a cup first then dip the stick.

About 6 months ago i did around 20 tests, (in denial) I buggered up a few of them cos i soaked them too much, they dont give a result if you wet them too much! Even the expensive ones, and i think i tried every test on sale.

You can get them from tesco, asda and co-op for around £3

LexieHx · 28/11/2010 16:29

I took a test today from superdrug. Luckily it was negative! Which I was relieved at, My boyfriend said to wait a few more days to see if I do come on, if not we are going to do another one. Thank you all for your help! :D
