Morning Sickness subsiding after 1 week?

Hi everyone,

Maybe I am being paranoid and over-anxious, but I'm hoping to hear some of your experiences.

I am 8 weeks pregnant today. At around 6.5 weeks I started experiencing morning sickness - not running-to-the-bathroom bad but definitely unmistakeable. However, for the past 3 days or so the sickness has reduced enormously, to the point where I only have very short and mild periods of nausea in the day.

Should I just count myself lucky, or should this not be happening yet? Is it normal for morning sickness to only last a week or so, or to have a period of days where you hardly experience it at all (when you did previously)?

Thanks for any experiences shared!

Oh you lucky so and so! Smile

Seriously, I have no experience of this as I had really bad morning sickness till about week 20 both times.

I hope it's nothing wrong, just you being fortunate - have certainly heard of this happening and there being no cause for alarm.

Is this your first?

Thanks for your reply EnnisDelMar - yes it is my first so I don't really know what's supposed to be happening.

Sorry to hear your morning sickness lasted such a long time - 20 weeks would be a lot longer than I would be hoping for Sad

Don't worry, most people seem to ease off around week 12 to 14, it's fairly uncommon to be a problem well beyond that!

I hoped some more people would reassure you, I've definitely seen similar things to what you posted many times on here before.

Good luck, anyway Smile

Smiler, very similar has happened to me. I am 8+2 and suffered horrid nausea weeks 5-7 though wasn't actually sick, just kept it at bay by eating everything in sight! Weeks 7-8 it disappeared completely and got me worried. Now it is back with a vengeance and I am constantly on the verge of puking, though still no actual sickness.

Someone said something to me about it being worse during baby's biggest growth spurts- not sure how much truth there is in that tho.

I think we just have to be grateful that we have got to this stage with relatively minor sickness!

Hmmm jewel2000 it seems the same thing has happened to me - ms has definitely come back strong as ever!

Obviously being paranoid. I guess it's just getting used to symptoms changing all the time...

Hi Smiler, congratulations on being pregnant!!! I would just enjoy not feeling sick!!! In my 3 diff pregnancies I've had diff experiences, this time my symptoms def came and went a lot and my sickness didn't really kick in till about 9 weeks, I then carried on feeling sick till 17 weeks (am 18 weeks today and hoping it doesn't return again!).

You might just be one of the lucky 20% who don't suffer! - try not to worry unless there is any reason to ie bleeding/bad cramping etc.

xxx

Hey I was nauseous quite early on then it disappered I posted about worrying symptoms had gone but my life......it came back and I threw up for England today. I like the fact it's reassuring to have symptoms however I am scared at how I am going to manage at work now! Be thankful for the break x x x
