Tooth pain - oww!

I've been having a fairly OK pregnancy so far - no MS, no weird pains, nothing too extreme. I'm nearly 13 weeks.

But now.... tooth pain. I went to see my dentist for a check up yesterday, and to get him to take a look at a filled tooth that has been giving me a lot of grief. It has a large white filling in it already (done around 7 months ago) and had been fine. But in the last few weeks, it's ached and cold drinks are a nightmare. This cold weather has made it worse too - a gust of cold wind makes it twinge badly. I've had to take paracetamol at times when it's felt really sore.

Verdict? Pregnancy is causing the nerve to be extremely sensitive in this particular tooth, and unless it's waking me up in the night, he doesn't want to do a root canal, as it should hopefully settle down in the second trimester.

Sad Not that I want a root canal...it's more the prospect of living with this discomfort for the next while. All I can do is step up the brushing, flossing and rinse with hot salt water to keep the gums as happy as possible.

Whinge over. Pass the floss!

You poor thing! I don't have any constructive advice apart from to keep your dentist informed if the pain gets worse, but I sympathise. For what it's worth, root canals aren't half as bad as the toothache, I think! Hope it feels better soon.
