light brown spotting

I am 5+5 today. Had the lightest of brown tinge to my cm last night and this lunchtime. Occasional abdominal twinges that I think/hope are my IBS. GP sent me to hospital today, positive pregnany test was repeated, and I will be scanned in a few days. They were not too concerned and said this light brown spotting "can be normal".

Has anyone else experienced this? How did it turn out?

Hi, I had spotting early pregnancy and had an early scan at 7 weeks. I too was really worried at first but was reassurred this is quite common. I am now 17 weeks and thank God have not had any such symptoms other than the horrible horrible morning sickness etc. and now lower back pain.... Don't stress but do take things easy and try to relax.

I had this too - all the way through my first and half of the second trimester. I wsa in the US at the time where they love to scan you every five minutes :) For me it turned out to be a subchorionic (sp? sorry) hematoma which basically means a little bit of bleeding as the placenta is formed and just leaks out slowly with the force of gravity. I had a healthy full term (plus an extra two weeks!) baby so it can turn out completely fine.

I also have a friend that went through almost exactly the same so think it can be very common.

Thanks ladies.
Everything seems to have gone back to normal, which is good. I don't have many symptoms, but that is nothing new. Maybe just a bot eatly yet.
I already have a scan scheduled for 6 weeks as I have a obstetrician-managed pregnancy (health stuff) so looking forward to seeing out little one then.
