Not leaking colostrum

Hi all,

Am just a couple of days off my due date now, and have heard lots about pregnant women leaking colostrum, but not much about women not leaking colostrum!

Is this likely to be a problem, or will it (as I hope) start to become apparent shortly after giving birth? Also, I know this sounds a bit crazy, but I have this paranoia that I will try to feed the baby without realising that nothing has been produced. How will I know that it has started, IYSWIM? Or will it just be really obvious?

Cheers!

I have had five children and never leaked a thing until my milk started to come in 2-3 days after the birth. Even then, if I was breastfeeding I didn't leak at all.

I've never had any problems with my milk supply, I had ridiculous amounts last time, (expressing only) but didn't leak at all until I had to suddenly stop feeding.

I have 2 dds and never leaked during pregnancy either.

Went on to feed both with no supply problems at all. Wasn't much of a leaker once supply had settled a bit.

I didn't leak a drop of Colostrum before DS was born but have had bucket loads of milk since his birth and only very recently have been able to go out of the house without breast pads (11months).

It's normal to leak but also completely normal not to

Thanks ladies - that's very reassuring! :)

Another one who never leaked in pg. And bf 2dcs for a good 17/18months each!

I never leaked but I also couldn't get anything out either expressing or via baby once she was born. I'm firmly convinced I'm in the minority though - I'm sure you will be fine.
