2cm out either way is normal as far as I understand, so at 34 weeks you could measure 36cm or 32cm and not be fussed. Given it's a bit of an inexact science anyway - how do you feel the exact top of your pubic bone and your fundus through your skin and muscle and depending on how you are lying/the baby is lying, I can't see any reason to worry at all.

:)

oops, double post

that happened to me, turned out baby was just lying sideways

the measurement is supposed to be taken over the baby's backbone... so if it is lying awkwardly it will liekly be incorrect

or so i have heard!

was your midwife concerned at all?

dribbleface · 22/11/2010 20:18

Happened to me over a few check ups, had extra growth scan, all was fine, perfectly normal sized healthy baby. Try not to worry.

ScarlettButler · 22/11/2010 20:35

it was my GP and she didnt say anything (tbh it was only when I looked at my notes when I came home)but she's a bit rushed all the time. The baby's head was down but I suppose cd have been lying oddly. Just seems quite small. I'm only just 34 weeks though I suppose.

If your worried have a chat with your midwife, nothing worse than worrying. I know i did.

I'm sure its all fine though, happens alot from chatting to friends etc.

I wouldn't worry I had 27cm with the GP at 24 weeks... then 23cm with the midwife at 26 weeks.... but she thought the baby was lying transverse (but I was obviously worrying as it looked like I was getting smaller not bigger!).

I had a scan last week (privately for other reasons) and the baby was doing fine and all measurements on track.
