I've been taking Perfectil for a good 6 months now and found they've made a real difference to my skin and hair - I'm now 9 weeks pg and as soon as I found out I went to my GP and took the box of Perfectil with me to ask if I could carry on taking it (it's basically multivitamins). She said that I could but I'm still concerned - as I'm taking Pregnacare too... google brings up nothing. Has anyone taken Perfectil through their pregnancy? Thanks.

I found pregnacare did a good job on my nails ...

if u've asked a dr and he said yes its fine then i'd believe him more than i would google. If you dont feel comfortable taking both then stop them. Pregnancy vitamins might do a similar job - my hair / nails r gr8 in pregnancy

A lot of the vitamins are doubled up in those two. I wouldn't take both at once. Perfectil on its own is fine I think because it doesn't contain vitamin A, but you don't want to be overdosing on everything else! I would just take Pregnacare as I'm sure it will do pretty much the same job for your skin and hair. And you may get lucky and have really nice skin and hair anyway due to pregnancy hormones!

With vitamins if your body has too much, it pees out so if you are doubling up, you are just pouring money down the toilet!

They were my pregnancy vitamins of choice. They don't have vitamin A in so are fine.

Do not take any other multivitamin at the same time, you could overdose on the fat soluable vitamins! If you look at the ingredients of the hair and nails and the pregnacare ones they are very similar.

Creatureofthenight · 21/02/2016 11:27

Whitey that is true for some vitamins, not for A and D as they are fat soluble not water soluble.

Both contain vitamin d, which you do not piss out, so I'd be cautious of overloading on that. Toxicity is rare, but it can have unpleasant side effects. If your perfectil contains folic acid and vit d, I'd probably ditch the pregnacare.
