I am so hungry all the time (only 5 weeks!) but I also feel sick most of the time and don't really feel like eating if those two things together don't sound too contradictory Grin

What things have you really wanted to eat?
Has it hit the spot? Or not?
What has helped your sickness?
What have you gone off?
What really churns your stomach?

Come on let's hear it! Food is always on my mind and I am sure I am not the only oneGrin
Perhaps we can give each other some tips for beating the nausea and vomiting/cravings/healthy stuff etc.

At the minute I don't fancy anything, and if I do, I have to have it NOW because I won't feel like anything in 5 minutesGrin
Like last time, I was looking forward to the excuse to indulge in chocolate but disappointingly I have gone off itConfused

I usually have a sweet tooth but have been wanting salty food. I've even been known to eat sea salt crystals Confused I'm only 5+6 so I hope it doesn't progress to anything else!

I've gone off tea, can't stand asparagus (was my favourite veg) and feel constantly hungry but not like I want to eat so I end up nibbling biscuits.

GretnaGirl · 18/11/2010 11:25

I went off chocolate from 5 weeks to just recently (I'm 18 weeks now) and just HAD to have a double decker yesterday, God it was nice!
Milk makes me feel sick and I usually love cereal but it's boring plain toast each morning at the moment.
My healthy diet consists mainly of salt and vinegar crisps, sausage rolls and chips!
I'm not too worried though, I was the same last time and had a bouncing baby boy 8lbs 4oz, he's now nearly 3 and healthy and strong!

thefurryone · 18/11/2010 11:27

I ate bread, cheese, harribo, special K and Phad Thai pretty much exclusively from week 6 to week 14.

8rubberduckies · 18/11/2010 11:28

I am nearly 9 weeks, and constantly starving hungry, but nauseous at the same time, so I know exactly where you're coming from.

This has been going on for 4 weeks now and I have managed to find some stuff that helps the nausea, but am now concerned about the amount of fillings I'm going to have by this time next year: fizzy, sugary drinks (fizzy water tastes yeuch to me at the moment), boiled sweets (especially sherbert lemons because of the fizz), and hot chocolate are stopping me feeling sick. I only don't feel sick at the actual time when I have food or drink in my mouth, so am constantly eating, drinking or sucking a sweet. I also put a banana on my bedside table to eat if I wake up in the middle of the night starving hungry, which I do a lot Blush.

I have developed a Hula Hoop addiction; I am eating 2 or 3 packs a day and could cheerfully eat more, when I only used to have about 1 pack of crisps a fortnight before. I am loving tinned tomato soup but any other tinned soup makes me want to retch, and I am also craving icecream, meat and fish.

Everyone, my name is 8rubberduckies and I am a foodaholic Blush.

and also feel better only if i actually have something in my mouth. was the same with dd. slightly concerned as have worked really hard recently to lose 2 stone (this is a great excuse to eat what i likeGrin) and think i will have put it all back on by the constant eating but will worry about that in say 2 years time Wink

I think Walkers profits have gone through the roof since I got pregnant, I eat two bags on a morning, it's the only thing I want! I do get better as the day goes on though and eat slightly better in the evening with DH.
Schweppes (and it has to be Shweppes) lemonade is also a MUST every day. I'm a bit worried about my teeth and trying to limit the amount I drink but nothing else quenches my thirst!

8rubberduckies · 18/11/2010 11:38

Mmmmm GretnaGirl Sausage rolls.....

broccolitrees · 18/11/2010 11:40

wish i craved ice cream Biscuit

GretnaGirl · 18/11/2010 11:45

Notice none of us are craving fresh veg and fruit - they say your body tells you what you need so I'll continue to assume I need all the items listed above (and a really spicy chinese on Saturday):)

FindingMyMojo · 18/11/2010 11:46

first 12 weeks both PG's I lived on grilled cheese on vogels toast & poached eggs on toast - yum yum. Also crunchy apples, pineapples & cold oranges. Oh & M&S deli coleslaw - I ate buckets of the stuff.

Though I could eat pretty much any tasty meal someone else prepared for me, I found it very difficult to prepare anything myself.

SerenaJoy · 18/11/2010 11:46

I've gone off tea and coffee. I'm gutted, because I'm a proper tea jenny usually (as my granny would say!). I wish I fancied a cuppa but the thought makes me want to vomit. Fox's Glacier Mints are helping keep the nausea at bay but am also quite concerned about the effect on my poor teeth!

I have a 1 hour commute on a shoogly bus, so I'm struggling a bit with that. It's not so bad in the morning, as long as I eat before I leave, but a few times in the last couple of weeks I've had to run - and I mean RUN - home from the bus stop to avoid being sick in the street (my worst nightmare). I dread bumping into someone I know, as no-one knows I'm PG yet.

SerenaJoy · 18/11/2010 11:48

Oh, and I can't get enough of those Tuc cheesy biscuits either. Hmm

I'm eating one right now.

FindingMyMojo · 18/11/2010 11:49

I also loved ginger cordial - Waitrose does a lovely one & it's really really easy to make - boil peeled sliced ginger (oodles of it) with unwaxed lemon zest with sugar to taste (I don't like it too sweet) for about an hour. Turn heat off and add juice of a few lemons. Leave to steep overnight, then strain, bottle & keep in fridge. Keeps for a couple of weeks (loads of recipes on WWW).

8rubberduckies · 18/11/2010 11:56

Serena Cheesy Tucs are soooo last week for me. I hunted them down in Tescos last week after I decided I needed them and bought 2 packs, but the thought of one now makes me balk Confused.

SerenaJoy · 18/11/2010 12:05

I was surprised that I fancied them duckies as they smell a bit like feet, but MIL had some and I hoovered them up Blush so had to go and buy some.

I'll probably go off them - my kitchen is full of half-empty packets/jars/bottles of things I HAD TO HAVE and now can't stomach. DH is managing to polish most things off for me though!

loueytbg · 18/11/2010 12:23

Mini-cheddars here but crisps in general.

I need carbs - bread, pizza, pasta all helps. Cheese too.

I also crave bananas like mad - if I'm feeling really sick a banana will stop it. Usually have one just before leaving work to prevent feeling awful and potential puking on the tube.

I never knew a fatty craving was so common! I usually love my veggies and salads but at 10 wks I cant look at a carrot, peas turn my stomach and the thought of green beans (turns green). I've been living on carbs, apples, yoghurts (thats the healthy list finished) crisps, pizzas, dips and last night crispy duck pancakes! Im going to be the size of a house! Oooo, but I'd kill for a prawn cocktail....

HarleyQuinn · 18/11/2010 12:36

Chilli heatwave doritos and fizzy flavoured water or coke this week.

Last week it was yogurt, I am finding bananas are stopping the early morning nausea too Smile

broccolitrees · 18/11/2010 12:44

just popped out for a deli sarnie and some chippy chips with vinegar, which i am now enjoying as i read- some of these are funnyGrin

Hi Broccolitrees, firstly congratulations! I am 15 weeks and this is my 1st pregnancy. I was very fortunate as I had no morning sickness and maintained high energy levels. I have definitely been eating a lot more than pre-pregnancy, but have only put on 3 pounds thus far and my pre-pregnancy BMI was 17(should I be worried? Confused)

I have been practicing yoga about 6 times per week and I think this is has been instrumental for me sticking to a healthy diet. I have gone off all added sugars (cannot stand the tought of having a desert), coffee, tea and alcohol (used to love my wine, but even the thought of it makes me sick). Eating animal protein (eggs, butter, fish & poultry) has become quite unpleasant and I have to force myself Sad. I have been craving citrus fruit and lemons in particular, and all fruits and vegetables in general (been eating enormous quantities)... I developed a dislike for cooked foods and my diet now consists approx 80% of raw vegan foods... I am probably an odd ball in this respect.I think this is pretty much it in a nutshell.

Wishing you a healthy pregnancy!

JBrd · 18/11/2010 13:19

I've been craving carbs, lots of carbs. Pizza, Pasta, potatoes...with lots and lots of cheese!

During the day, I just love love Burgen linseed toast with cream cheese and cucumber slices and salt & pepper, I've been eating this for weeks now.

And hummus is great - this helps me getting some healthy food in, as I use it to dip tomatoes, peppers, radish, carrots, cucumbers...

Needelss to say, I've put on lots of weight. But that's still better than feeling sick all the time, IMO!

jasmine51 · 18/11/2010 13:21

broccoli..please can you change your user name...it makes me feel queasy Grin. Suggested temporary name would be hulahoops or cheese KFC.... or banana if you really have to keep a healthy one!
