Anyone else really dislike their CMW?

I had this particular MW in my 1st pregnancy and didn't think much to her then, and she has now confirmed my suspicions: she is useless!

I went for a consultant appt today and found out that my CMW had mixed my notes up with someone of a similar name so they had no details about my previous delivery. This was only discovered because the other woman had a pregnancy in 2009 and mine was in 2006. Basically, they spent half an hour writing my info on her notes and looking at me like I was mad when I was telling them stuff about my labour which obviously contradicted what was in the notes!

To top it off, the mistake by my CMW has led to mine and this other woman's NHS numbers being combined. Go figure.

Anyway, it has all been sorted out and my CMW will get a serious wrist slapping!

That's a terrible breach of confidentiality, on top of a potentially dangerous situation - what if one of you is rhesus neg or develops something that has to be on the notes?

One to report I think.

OMG that is really bad - hated my last midwife - have requested someone else this time but its only a small surgery so it looks like l might be stuck with her does anyone know if l can decline a midwife and just arrange my own scans etc if it comes down to it?

I have just had a phone call from MW supervisor at the hosp saying she will take over my care. It's been escalated so the MW in question will def get in trouble.

DummyH, I've been told that I can go for appointments at my local children's centre (surestart) which means I'll avoid my initial MW. Don't know if you have them where you are?

dummy you are under no obligation to have antenatal care, however if you do want antenatal care an alternative mw should be found for you but you may have to attend another health centre for appts.

Ooo I didn't know you could request a different midwife! Mine is adsolutely useless! I live in a small town though so it would be obvious if I made a fuss

thanks guys - have been to see the Dr and told him that the midwife l had previously and l just 'didn't click' and I would like another midwife - he is organising one that covers an adjoining area to visit me - no questions asked - he said it is more common than I think that people just dont see eye to eye

Sorry to hijac your post wussbird lm glad that they sorted you some alternative care and got you a good mw :) there really isn't anything worse than a bad one - it ruins the whole experience
