Hi all this is my first post and it's a stressy one. I had a bit of a scare this morning and ended up having my scan a week earlier than planned and found out I'm 9 weeks 4 days rather than the 11 weeks we thought. Which was bonus in a way as it meant a time I was worried about been drunk as a skunk no longer counted. Anyway I've been really careful about what I'm eating but somehow totally missed pâté, I've eaten quite a bit this weekend, just got a yearn for it. My OH just walked in and bless him he must have been reading the stuff I've been chucking at him as he almost threw it across room. Now I know how bad it can be I'm a bit panicky. Has anyone on here eaten it and been ok or had problems?

i didnt know i was pregnant til i was 22 weeks and had eaten loads of pate as its one of my fave foods so i wouldnt worry too much. i also ate peanuts in my first pregnancy as i had major cravings and my son doesnt have an allergy.

Congratulation

I agree with Lady - there are countless stories of what people have been eating/drinking/doing while not knowing they are pregnant, and the babies are fine! For example, I was dosed up with day & night nurse up to my ears for a bad cold before I found out.

Please don't worry about this episode, the good thing is that you've realised it now.

And good for your DH for knowing this and helping you! Mine didn't have a clue, and he's still not doing any reading about pg, and I'm 15 weeks.

I ate tons of brie in my pregnancy and all was absolutely fine.

jasmine51 · 15/11/2010 17:03

I was at a seafood festival for the weekend before I realised, enjoying champagne and oysters followed by ibuprofen for the hangover afterwards. Please dont worry about what has been and gone, congratulations on your pg

Apparently in France pregnant women don't worry about cheeses and pate but they chuck out the family cat in case of toxoplasmosis! Everything will be fine, congrats x x x

winnybella · 15/11/2010 20:22

Nah, we don't chuck our cats out Shock

But we are given regular screenings for toxo.

OP, don't worry, you would have to be eating a pound of pate a day for a month before even starting to worry!

Congratulations!

thatsnotmymonkey · 15/11/2010 20:30

Actually pate is fine, like most food, as long as not in excess, and you can be sure it is fresh and not riddled with listeria Grin then eat your heart out!

Congratulations!
