Anyone had a pregnancy belly henna done?

I really fancy decorating my tummy! Grin Look here. Some of them are so beautiful. I'm not thinking of paying someone to do one, I'd do it myself so I'd have to do a design over the part of my bump I can reach!

Has anyone done this for themselves?

Ooooh, they do look nice!

But I'd be wary about skin reactions, especially if you're planning on doing it yourself. I tried henna painting myself a few years ago - not while I was pregnant - and while drying on my skin, the stuff gave me a very itchy and uncomfortable rash. Your skin changes when you're pregnant, and even though you might be fine with it otherwise, you might react differently to it now. Also, the quality of the do it yourself kits might vary considerably.

Maybe ask your midwife...?

Oh, so pretty!

Think you might give the midwife a shock! Also, it's a shame to have something like this and then cover it up.

I haven't had a reaction to hennas done at festivals, etc. I think the thing to avoid is so-called Black Henna (no such thing) which uses nasty hair dye and can really cause nasty reactions. But perhaps my skin will be more sensitive now? I could do a patch test.

My MW would be extremely cool with it, she is very much of that sort of persuasion! Grin I was wondering what the consultant who might have to do an ECV would think when I bear my bump. Hopefully he won't write me off as a hippy and slot me into whatever pigeonhole he might have for that sort of thing.

I'd flash my bump at my friends all the time, TooImmature, believe me! Grin

I've just ordered a kit to do at home, and am going to persuade my arty hubby to do one for me! I'm due for a section on the 8th Dec, but as this will definitely be my last pg, it has to be done!
Think it might give them a shock in theatre!!
