Itching - not unbearable

Hi all,

I know that intense/unbearable itching should be reported as it can be a sign of OC which can be dangerous to the baby.

But I have irritating itching, lower legs only (not feet), not completely unbearable, I was having a good old scratch for about 15 minutes last night, but then went to sleep and was fine, and probably itch about 3 or 4 times a day, but it's not driving me insane or anything. I have noticed that it started since I've been pregnant (am now 26 weeks), but it isn't horrendous or anything - it's a little like the itching when I have dry skin after being in the sun or whatever.

So this doesn't seem like the kind of thing which does need reporting to the MW, or does it? I feel a bit stupid ringing up and saying 'my legs itch, not that much though'.

Any thoughts of ladies who have experience of this would be gratefully recieved.

You should report it, but as you're so early on, it can probably wait a little while, maybe till your next appointment?

Try moisturising more and wearing cotton socks.

OC itching can start as just annoying and progress to severe, so it is worth both mentioning it and keeping an eye on it. FWIW, "severe" is classed as itching that prevents you from sleeping or wakes you up at night or drives you mad during the day! Not everyone scratches a lot with OC, partly because it doesn't help and actually can make it worse.

Thanks japhrimel, that helps and gives me a bit of context. I'll report it anyway, then the pros can make a decision Smile.
