Bedside cot - any safety tips?

Hello

I'm trying to decide whether to put DD in a bedside cot or a moses basket right by our bed when she arrives. I love the idea of having her in a bedside cot right next to me, but I'm worried in case there are any safety concerns I should be aware of.

Is it safe to use your normal duvet on the bed if you have a bedside cot attached, or should you use blankets and sheets as if you were co-sleeping? And any any other bits of knowledge / info relating to bedside cots you could impart would be much appreciated!

Thank you :)

I used a bedside cot with both of mine, it was so much easier to feed them in the night then slide them back in. I used a moses basket for the first couple of months as they were both winter babies and I felt it was cosier than the cot.

I always had my normal duvet on, as they weren't covered by it. I used sheets and blankets for them, then a grobag as they got bigger.

I think a bedside cot is different to co-sleeping as the baby is not actually in your bed. I imagine there are SIDS information websites which may help.

Same as fifty, our bedding stayed the same, it doesn't go near them as the cot is shorter and creates a barrier iyswim? I had DD in a moses basket for 6 weeks or so, she was so tiny and looked cosier in there but transferred fine to the cot.

I am going straight to a bedside cot. I am going to tuck my duvets in at the end of the bed so they don't move about too much... but only because I tend to pull them over the side of the bed.

Can I ask which bedside cot you ladies have used/are using?

I haven't found too many options online.

I have an Arm's Reach. They are much cheaper online from the US if you can get someone to bring one back for you. There are some on ebay too.

We used a Cosatto closer to you, got it off ebay in lovely condition for a reasonable price.
