Can anyone recommend where to get decent, comfy 40/60 denier black maternity tights? Thanks

I got some from Debenhams, they are really comfy don't go saggy around the knees and wash well Grin

gallicgirl · 11/11/2010 21:15

Debenhams for me too but struggle to get them in small, usually only stock medium or large. £10 for 2 pairs I think.

Don't bother with Emma Jane tights. Only worn mine twice and the waistband is going and they're snagged.

BellaBearisWideAwake · 11/11/2010 21:16

don't get Emma thingy. Ladder bloody easily. £8 I won't see again. Pah!

Sullwah · 11/11/2010 21:20

M & S - best do it online and you don't even have to visit the shop!

DuelingFanjo · 11/11/2010 21:36

Asda.

Debenhams reccommendation again. Very comfy and well fitting.

for me, avoid mamas and papas tights - they are the worst pair ever - I look like nora batty and they fall down so much I spent the whole day pulling them up as discreetly as I can! Have also got a pair from mothercare which are OK.

Andie20521 · 12/11/2010 09:33

Now I have discovered thaht I can wear my old winter tights under the bump I've not bothered buying any more. I am 39 weeks and measuring large for my dates so not exactly petite!

The ones from Mothercare (that I previously bought) were fine though, if you feel the need to buy some that pull up over the lump.

yellowflowers · 12/11/2010 09:42

I got M&S ones - fit over bump well and fine it sitting still but fall down as soon you walk anywhere.

CTJ82 · 12/11/2010 10:16

Maybe i'm just strange but I wear my normal tights under the bump with an extra pair of knickers over the top (superman style).
I found the over the bump type tights don't work and roll down as soon as you start to move.

CherylAnnTweedy · 12/11/2010 10:21

Ooh, just thought I'd add the Mothercare ones are useless for me. They were great until I was about 30 weeks and then they just weren't long enough so wouldn't fit over my bump and would pop underneath my bump as I was walking which makes them fall down.

CrazyPlateLady · 12/11/2010 10:32

Peacocks!!!

I went into Mothercare last week, all they had was grey wooly ones. M&S didn't have maternity tights. DH said "try here" as we walked past Peacocks. They were £5 reduced to £2.50, black, 70 denier and fantastic!!

ReshapeWhileDamp · 12/11/2010 15:52

I got some pairs of Noppies from the online shop From Here to Maternity, because they were in the sale (£3.50 each rather than something daft like £8) and they're ok. Hard-wearing, but for some reason, the black L ones are almost too short (I'm 5'2"!) and the brown L ones are definitely too long. However, baggy ankles are the least of my worries, given I can't even see them!

naomiclarke1987 · 12/11/2010 18:13

I had mothercare maternity tights and they were wonderful for me - i have a very large bump too and they have plenty of room even now i'm 38 weeks. I am 5ft 10 as well and they were not too short like many tights can be!

Southsearocks · 12/11/2010 18:17

Agree with yellowflowers. Have got M&S ones that fit nicely until you stand up. May be due to my short legs.

flywiththeeagles · 12/11/2010 19:13

Try www.globalmaternity.com I'm sure they do some Boob Design black maternity tights in black. That's where I got mine. They also have Emma Jane and Noppies.

lucybrad · 13/11/2010 11:32

mine from next are very comfy

FakePlasticTrees · 13/11/2010 11:38

After wasting a lot of money on maternity tights that weren't comfy and sagged, i gave up and just bought hold up stockings.

ShirtyGerty · 13/11/2010 12:55

I just wearing extra large non-maternity ones pulled up to just under my bra! Nice warm wooly ones.

freelancescientist · 13/11/2010 18:17

Second the recommendation for big size non-maternity ones - if you wear them back to front they fit over your bump!
