Urgent - Do the new anti-D jabs hurt?

MW is coming round in less than an hour to do mine as I forgot I had an appt . When I was pg with my dd 6 yrs ago they gave the dose in 2 parts a few weeks apart and now they give it all in one go.

Can someone tell me if it is very painful. Previously one of the jabs I had was fine but the other really hurt. I am just thinking because she will be injecting twice the amount in one go that it may hurt more.

I sound like a complete wuss I know, but I have no problem with needles at all (blood tests are a breeze), but I have found in the past that stuff going IN is rather hurty and dd is here so I need to be brave.

Had my anti-D jab and its not too bad. Its doesn't hurt, just has this strange heavy feeling when it goes in.

If you are fine with blood tests, this isn't too bad. Just a strange dull, heavy feeling.

It just takes ages, doesn't hurt more but does go on for longer as it's twice as much stuff! Of course, it does depend where it gets injected...

Thanks. In retrospect, my MW made me stand up for the second jab last time and it was agony, but I was laid down for the first one. Maybe thats what the problem was.

Crikey Unbuffy, I just assumed it would be in my thigh, that's where the last ones went. Where did you have yours?

it stings but it's far from unbearable. Mine (I've had a few now due to falls/bleeding!) have all been in my thigh but I've heard of other people having them in their arm.

I shall just have to stop being such a div and just get on with it lol. Whether it hurts or not I've got to have the bloody thing done haven't I!

Sorry to be a bit thick, but what is an anti-D injection?

Sarah, anti-d is needed if you are a rhesus negative blood group, because if baby is a positive blood group it can cause problems if the blood mixes at birth.

It was a little bit ouchy happycamel, but not too bad, just a bit of a sting. The MW was great and did it within a few seconds so it was over very, very quickly. Feels a little sore now, but nothing terrible.

I found it no trouble at all - feels like someone is pressing a thumb hard into your arm, is all.
I have to give myself an injection of Clexane in my belly every day, and that is much worse!
