Rh Neg - having an amnio/cvs

Hi, can anyone advise me please? I am rhesus negative facing the possiblility of an amnio/cvs. Will I need a shot of anti-d if I have these done? Are there any increased risks for rh. neg. mothers undergoing these procedures?
I'm hoping to avoid having either done, will be having my 12 week scan in a couple of weeks and just want to be prepared in case. Thanks in advance,

Hi pacinofan,

I'm sure that you will need an Anti-D shot after an amnio,as there is a slight chance that yours & the babies blood may mix.Being RH Neg shouldn't put you anymore at risk than anyone else.

It is worth checking with your midwife about the shot though.Although I'm RHNeg,I've never had an amnio or CVS,but have had to have shots with each pregnancy because of bleeding ect.

Hope that you have a healthy & happy 7 months.

Thanks so much for answering my query and your good wishes. It really helps I think if you know what to expect at appointments. Roll on my first scan!
