I had a cold a month or so ago and my nose is still a bit blocked. Now I am getting a vibrating in my ears. Is this a pregnancy thing? I am 35 weeks now and at first I thought it was buzzing from my DH's computer downloads but realised it was happening at my mum's house too. Could it be tinitus?

Sounds like it might be tinnitus. Tinnitus can be a continuous or pulsing/vibrating sound in one or both ears. Generally, it's more noticeable (and annoying) when it's quiet around you.

If it doesn't go away when your cold is all gone, it's worth seeing your doctor about.

If you find it's effecting your sleep, try sleeping with a little noise or 'white noise' in the room. Things like a loud washing machine do make it more bearable!

thanks MrsMogwai, is it something I am stuck with or [hopeful emoticon] something which might go once the baby has been born?

There's so many reasons why people can get tinnitus so can't really predict how it might go for you.

Given that you've had a cold recently, it might be as simple as you're ears being impacted with wax. It might also be that the cold has left you with a little bit of damage. Exposure to loud noise is the most common cause though.

Mine is permanent and is related to a balance/hearing problem (Menieres Disease) that I have. It's bloody annoying, but I cope quite well with it now.
