Hi - i'm 8 weeks pregnant and having pains in my lower abdomen (sp) which started this morning after going to the toilet. I have called my out of hours surgery and they've arranged for me to have an internal scan on Monday. I just wanted some reassurance over the weekend that this is normal? I had the same with dd but am now very anxious that something is wrong. Thanks for listening to me go on X

All was well untill late this afternoon when I started to bleed, sorry if too uch info, it happens when i go to the toilet, have rung the EPAC centre & i am going for another scan tomorrow. So again we are now both very worried about what is going on? yesterday there was a very strong heartbeat & no reason for the discharge but now today the blood is bright red. I really dont want to loose this baby, i am now 11 weeks & so close to the 'safe' zone. any help again please.....

Just to let you know I have had my second scan & again there was a strong heartbeat & they said it was showing all the signs of a healthy pregnancy. he couldnt explain the bleeding apart from it being v.common & that 9 out of 10 cases go on to have a healthy pregnancy. so we just have to sit tight & relax, which is a bit hard when you have a 6yr old, 5 yr old & 3 yr old to look after!! i shall try my best I have got my 12 week scan next friday so ive got everything crossed untill then.

I was just wondering about any one else out there who has had bleeding through pregnancy & everything has been okay, how long did bleeding last? I read further down this thread that 'hereshoping' bleed from 8 weeks through to 13weeks, if this happens to me I dont know how to handle the worry. Every book seems to use the word 'spotting' what exactly does this mean???Anybody?????

hereshoping · 23/09/2005 22:09

Hi there
I had loads more than spotting which I took to mean exactly that - the odd spot. sorry if TMI now but at start I had massive bright red v painful bleed - soaked pads and needed to change them every hour for a few hours each day then always smears on wiping after loo and occasional bigger losses where would need to change clothes if didnt have pad on, settled with spotting for a week or so then another big brown loss at 12 weeks - at work and had to slink home with coat tied round waist to hide clothes
so what Im trying to say is you can bleed v heavily and have a pg continue,Im amazed mine did

HI thanks 'hereshoping' for your info, it does help me although I find it all very bizarre, with nothing like this in my previous pregnancies I always presumed bleeding had a dreadfull outcome. i shall just keep my fingers crossed.

JIFDA · 24/09/2005 18:48

Sorry its me again you are probably all getting fed up of me going on & asking so many questions. I have gone all day with no bleeding & then at about 4p.m. bleeding has started again, why oh why???? Has anyone else had this????

ei23mummy · 24/09/2005 21:54

hey iv just read this thread and thought id post... my friend had bleeding when she was pg with her ds, it started off as 'spotting' and gradually got heavier and painful. after going for almost weekly scans- to be told everything was fine- they doc finally decided to examine her internally and found she had a cervical erosion. this is basically a small tear on the cervix which can bleed occaisionally- sometimes heavily for no reason! if your scans are all turning out fine then maybe this is what is causing your bleeds. hope this helps and good luck with the rest of the pg's

lucykate · 25/09/2005 12:10

yes, jifda. mine tended to be worse first thing in the morning, almost stop until late afternoon. midwife says it does that as it 'pools' overnight, and when you've been moving around also sparks it off. just take care of yourself,x.

lucykate did your pregnancy go on to be succesfull? I have never really been a worrier but now all i seem to do all day is worry about every twinge or ache.
my scan date being so far out from my dates is also a worry by my dates i am 11 weeks+3 but by scan i am only 8weeks+3, whcih by looking back is virtually impossible to explain! Has anyone elses dates been so far out????
