baby movements

Ocassionaly if my baby kicked it hurt/felt uncomfy,or he'd kick my bladder etc but today hes been moving about and its been killing me!! esp under my ribs, my dh thought i was in labour at one point as i couldnt sit still. Had my 37 week mw appointment today and she said everything was normal, baby head down etc, has anyone experienced this sudden change in movements?

Hi, 37.4 here, my baby's movements are getting squirmier rather than kicky now that he's running out of room, so sorry not much help! But I'm sure someone who knows more will be along soon. If you're worried though, I'd call your MW!

hi pinkyp it's funny you should say that as I am 37w today and as of the past two days have been getting some BIG movements - it started at quite an important meeting at work the other day and I actually stood up and said 'ouch'! (much to my embarrassment) it really took me by surprise! she has been doing it on and off (doing it right now) since.

hope that reassures you. this is DC1 for me so I don't have any other experience of it

Hi planner, think we've spoken b4..possibly on a baby name thread?
I cant remember them feeling this painful last time (this is my 2nd ds) , last time i remember being umcomfy and have had the odd painful one but everyone today felt like he was trying to kick/punch his way out.... i say kick feels more of a rolling sensation

I'm getting 'bulges' rather than kicks now (33 weeks) that make me exlaim. Feels like a foot rolling accross the top of my stomach. Looks pretty weird too. Maybe try rocking on all fours or a birth ball to get baby to move to a more comfy position?

I know what you mean op.
I think it's that the baby is big in a restricted space, and (in the case of ds2) it must get quite uncomfortable, so they try to make more space for themselves.
Dh and I had so many nights when we thought I was going into labour, as I was in so much pain.

I found kneeling on the floor stretched up over a chair or a fit ball helped, it maybe stretched things out a bit, and gave the babymore space.

Thank you! I've found sitting very unlady like helps and gives dh a laugh at the same time too lol
