Trying to have sex at 40 weeks

So I'm 40 weeks and I know that having sex is supposed to be great for softening the cervix but it is really uncomfortable. It pinches and stings a little. I'm wondering what other people experienced? Is it normal that it hurts? Also I'm worried that it means labour will be painful.

Thanks

Bless you - I think that if you don't enjoy it don't do it!

Labour will be painful I'm afraid, pushing out baby will definitly smart a bit. Tis normal.

dont bother in my opinion - really uncomfortable and not worth the effort involved - the baby will come out anyway whether you have sex or not to help it along Smile

when i was 10 days over and DESPERATE to give birth, I suggested sex to DH. He has a horrified look on his face and said he would need to get his ladders and ropes from his van 1st! nice.
