Will I need another CS?

I had a CS with DD2 as she was breech, I want to have a normal VB this time but I know that sometimes you are more at risk of having another CS because you've had one before but why? What are the reasons that I would need to have a CS apart from another breech baby?

The main reason is that after you have had a Csect then you are more at risk of a uterine rupture. The risk is about 1 in 200 I think. You will get loads of info from the people on MN I'm sure. There is no reason why you cannot have a VB next time if that is what you want, read up about it and make an informed choice.

If you've had a CS before you are at (a small) risk of scar rupture as TBMOM says. There is also a chance, in some cases, that your first CS was caused by something that happens again. So my CS was because my DD1 was stuck. And my DD2 got stuck too, so second emcs. In your case this shouldn't apply.

Sometimes when a woman attempts a vaginal birth after section hospital staff will put restrictions, time limits etc on labour, which means she might be more likely to end up with a section.

You need to talk to your doctor about what they do for VBACs at your hospital. I'd also recommend you read "The VBAC Handbook" which contains info on the risks of VBAC v repeat section and how to maximise your chances of success.

I had a successful VBAC 2 years after CS for breech baby. They usually want to monitor you throughout your labour, I was hooked up with the belt thing on throughout mine if I remember correctly. Twas fine though, labour lasted around 4 hours and although I needed episiotomy there was no other intervention.

I think they monitor baby's heart rate continuously as if it changes that could indicate your scar is rupturing.

If all goes well and this baby is not breech you should be fine to try for a VBAC. T think they have guidelines on how long they will let you labour and push before intervening. It would be useful to know these in advance.
