Clothes to buy for a baby due in February

Our baby is due early February. It'll be cold so I'm guessing I should buy all-in-one baby grows with long legs and sleeves for 0-3 months. As this is my first I'm not sure though. Any suggestions please?

Lotta check out my thread above re what a newborn baby wears. I'm due Feb too and there are loads of really good replies on there.

Well of course now it's below Wink...

I had my baby in august and all she wore was long sleeved babygrows with a short sleeved vest underneath. However I would buy new born or early baby size. 0-3 didn't fit mine until she was about 6 weeks old.

Check the weight guides on different brands - what is considered Newborn size varies from 8-11lb depending on the shop (10lb is most common).

You'll need sleepsuits, bodies, a few hats, a cardi or 2 and a pramsuit or wrap.

as above really. Don't worry about proper clothes. People will buy them as gifts and jeans on newborn don;t really work ( I know, I tried and this time round will be sticking with babygros until at least 3 months!)

Lotta come and join us all on Feb 2011 - growing bigger, loosing our figure thread on the anti-natal page.

DS was born at the end of January, next one is due in Feb (when are you due? I'm due the 9th).

Cardigans were a total godsend. Plenty of vests and babygros. We mainly used t shirts and jackets/cardigans. Layers that could be stripped off if they needed to be.

Don't buy much. You will get a silly amount bought for you. I had a present from my dads ex DP's best friend! My dad split with his ex years and years before but we were in touch as she is the mother of my siblings.

Mine DD was born in the summer and still wore a vest and a babygro. You'll need layers and defo a pramsuit/snowsuit as I find jan and feb can be colder than Nov and Dec.

My DD was over 9lbs but still fit the newborn clothes. Think if much smaller they can look a bit lost if wearing something that is too big.

You may want to get snowsuit now as selection can get picked over and stuff often goes in the sale and spring stuff in by Feb time.

Thanks all. That's really useful, succinct advice. Shall start shopping today!
