Bit of background - 37 year old professional, separated for 2.5 years after husband of 12 years left, in middle of divorce proceedings. 2 DCs age 6 and 8, live with me. DP met 3.5 months ago; amazing relationship but early days, now lives with us, has 1 DD age 6. We spend child-free time doing triathlon, cycling, climbing, outdoor swimming etc.

Now crunch point...just had a positive pregnancy test.

Not on my life plan at all. DP very supportive, says he's ready for lifetime commitment, happy with whatever I decide.

I'm really not sure what to do. I think it would help to hear from you all with experience of what it is like to have a 'second' family while your other children spend every other weekend away, how my kids might cope with this, what it's like to have kids with different fathers, or be older parents (DP is 43). And from any of you who have had a shock like this when you've only been with your DP for a few months.

Any advice really welcome -thanks everyone.

I'm sure it's all possible, I have 2 dcs and dp has adapted very well.

But you moved in together after only 3.5 months? Are your kids ok with that? Seems quite fast for me.
