How tired is normal at 28 wks with twins?

I'm 39, and 28 wks pregnant with (big) twins. At 24 weeks I measured the same as I was at term with DS, and he was 8lb 11oz, so I'm pretty hefty. I've had problems with anaemia which I think are sorted now, but I'm REALLY tired, especially in the morning, and about 5pm. We have a 19month old who is very active and I spend a lot of time running round after him. My H seems to think I should be a lot more energetic than I am, and doesn't seem to get that I could lie on the floor and sleep a lot of the time! Added to this, Ds hasn't slept through properly in 6 weeks - he wakes at about 4am for a little drink and then goes straight off - but my H never ever wakens with him whereas I'm now waking BEFORE DS in anticipation! So, I'm getting regular broken sleep too.
So, how much energy 'should' I have (I know that's subjective!) and am I just being a bit lazy wanting more sleeps?!Blush

Your NOT being lazy, my last pregnancy was tough as I was nauseous every day and I was exhausted all day every day, I could never get enough sleep, and that was with just one baby and unbroken sleeps, tell DH that you need to rest as much as you can and let DC watch tele now and again so you can sit down, take it easy on yourself!!

Hi Holly,

Sorry to hear you are feeling rough [hsad] we've chatted before on these threads, I am now 34 weeks with twins and am absolutely knackered.

My DP sounds a bit like yours and really doesn't get it, I can't imagine having a 19 month old as well, at least I can just sleep when I feel like it. Does your ds have a day nap? can you sleep then as well? Any family or friends (or nursery) who could look after him a couple of mornings a week?

Definitely feel your exhaustion, I managed to work full time up until 31 weeks but wished I could of stopped at about 28 as that's when it reached it's peak. Now I potter around doing washing/cooking/nesting for about 30 mins a time then need a rest!

I've not had any anaemia either so I'm sure that's making you feel worse, are you eating properly? I have been having a guiness and black twice a week and think it's the cure [hsmile]

How many weeks do you have to get to? I've only got 17 more sleeps [hgrin]

Hi There

I had twins, and was knackered all the time. I finished work at 30 weeks, but should have finished at 28 looking back now. No advice - just sympathy Smile and good luck - twins are awesome! lavita loving the 17 more sleeps! I am now 33 weeks with dc3. Keep thinking Thank God its not twins again - so good luck all x

I could have wriiten your post!!! except ds1 was nearer 3 years old.

I was huge (dts were 6lb 14oz & 7lb 14oz born at 38 weeks) and exhausted.

But things must have got better as when dts were 21 mths we had ds3 Grin

I really feel for you and hope you manage to get some rest.

Twins are awesome Smile our are 3.6yrs now!!

God I can't imagine but I expect the answer is really really tired!
I've only had single pregnancies and this second time around has been a lot harder than the first as I have a 2 year old to look after too. In first pg I probably spent whole weekend napping but you just can't do that now, can you!
I also did feel quite especially bad around 28 weeks, midwife said iron levels are at their lowest at that point (hence the test then). So you might feel a bit better soon.
Your husband sounds decidedly unsympathetic though Angry

never had twins, but being pg with one baby and having other children to look after too was fairly exhausting!

i'm sure your tired is normal....you need to look after yourself and be treated by your dh...tell him to pull his finger out!

Thankyou everyone, I was starting to think there was something wrong with me! I must have looked dreadful yesterday (and close to meltdown) as H took DS who was ready to party at 6am this morning! I lay in till TEN o'clock and am like a new woman! And DS slept though! Hurray!
Lavitabellissima wow! 17 sleeps! Not long at all! Are you all sorted? What pram did you get? We got the iCandy pear today! I'm booked in for CS on Jan 4th, if I get that far! Hope you're well, it's v exciting! Do yours fight? Mine feel like they are!

Nearly sorted, I just need to buy a few last bits. Pram, we got the icandy peach blosssom, I love it, I just need to buy adaptors so we can put the car seats on.

Definitely a lot of movement, I'm just hoping they get on once they're born.

Good luck with everything, sounds like the lie in did you the world of good!
