Stretching pains

How long do these last?

I'm 9+2 according to LMP but 9+5 having had a private scan.

I've suffered with cramps & sharp pains almost every day since 4 weeks and i'm even having to take paracetamol because it is so bad some days.

Is this normal?

As long as there is no blood or spotting this is normal, its all the ligaments stretching, and can be quite painful.

with baby no3,mine were bad an i thought i might miscarry,ut it was just my ligaments and everything else stretching, can be scary at times.

I had exactly the same thing, I had lots of pain early on, I was convinced I was about to start my period or miscarry! But I didn't and I am now 29 weeks. I hated those first 12 weeks as I was convinced something wasn't right but in my case all was well. I always suffered really bad with period pains so my theory is that I have a sensitive uterus or something and all that stretching was causing me the pain. I have been fine later on though!

Hi,

I'm 6 weeks gone and also have period-like cramps every day, which come on in the evening for some reason. I take a quick bath and find that helps.

I have them quite regularly, sometimes just a bit crampy like period type pains, other times sharp shooting pains. Apparently perfectly normal (if annoying). I had my 13 week scan on Friday and all is going exactly as it should be so I guess its just another of the joys of pregnancy!!

Had horrendous pains for ages - still get them occasionally now and I'm 20 weeks! The worst pain was the implantation pain which was like being stabbed in the belly button and up my hoo hah!!

buttercup123 · 01/11/2010 09:41

Cameli - this is totally normal. I had loads of those shooting ligament pains early on. Really horrid, I know.

They do ease off though. I can't really remember when they pretty much stopped, but it must have been around the 12 week mark. I still get the occasional one, but nowhere near like it was at the beginning.

There's not much you can do during the day, but a bath or a hot water bottle in the evening does help...

yep completely normal, but in my case still have them every so often and am 22+4 and they can be really sharp and have to sit down, i need a bump sling!!!

rubybambini · 01/11/2010 15:22

Me too - I'm still having them at 17+3. Feels like mild, but uncomfortable enough to make me shift around, period pains. They seem to happen more in the late afternoon and evening - not sure how to explain that! I quite like them, actually, they're kind of reassuring.
