Bump bands

I am planning to get some of these to get a bit more wear out of my normal clothes - are all brands equal?

I saw that Jojo maman bebe ones have buttons inside so that they can fasten to your trousers - is this standard or are they unusual.

I wanted to get the one from bumpband.co.uk, but I can't tell if they have a button inside them or not Confused

I got mine from mothercare - pack of two for £10, and wear one everyday. In maternity jeans, but wearing pre-pregnancy clothes on top at 26 wks.

I don´t really get these, i have two topshop ones but am forever pulling jeans up, bump bands up/down, tops up/ down and feel like I´m always rearranging myself. really not sure what the idea is here and whether i´ve missed the point completely..

They're for people who either use them to cover unbuttoned trousers roundhouse or whos shirts no longer reach to their trousers. I love the way they cover my tummy.

Apparently cheap boobtubes from primark etc can be used the same way

I use mine to give my bump extra support/warmth when I am out walking as my winter coat doesn't do up over the bump and I'm too tight to buy a maternity one! Grin Works though, especially in terms of extra support. I do sometimes feel as though I'm lugging a bowling ball around on my front and get pains (well, more niggles) accordingly when out walking but this doesn't happen if I'm wearing my bump band, would really recommend them.

Not tried using one to cover unbuttoned trousers ... do the trousers stay up?! May be able to retrieve some normal trousers if so.

TheEvilDead2 · 31/10/2010 21:11

depends on the trousers geeky! also depends on how active you are, and how well they fit else where. They worked for me for work trousers as I have an office job and wasn't very active. Practice wearing them round the hosue to see how you feel.

The bump band ones don't have buttons in but they are made of great fabric that is really supportive. I got mine from www.globalmaternity.com and there was 10% off. [hsmile]

I bought a pack of two from mothercare which were complete rubbish. The ones I got from the NCT catalogue are much better.

I used one over the top of a waste band extender (like this)
Its is basically a bit of elastic with a button at one end and a button hole at the other end for when your normal clothes get too tight on the waist. I put 2 together as i got bigger. Then wore the bump band over the top to hide the fact that my flies were undone.

It was a brilliant. I could wear my fav trousers for a while longer, and they fit better than maternity trousers did at that point. Or at any point!!
