can a midwife pass on information about an unborn baby to anyone else? general public or other health professionals?

She can pass it to other health professionals who are involved with the case - general public is a big NO.

Effectively it's not the baby's records it's yours (until it's born).

Let me know if you want any more info - my Mum is a Data Protection guardian in the NHS so can tell you EXACTLY what can and can't be shared.

Other professionals only.

Other relevant health professionals only, surely? There may be a medical reason to alert the paedeatric team ahead of delivery eg if the baby is likely to need an intervention shortly after delivery.

She can also refer the unborn baby to Social Services, along with other health professionals.
