third trimester - how often do you get up for the loo in the night?

Just wondering if my experience is typical. I'm 29 weeks. I seem to need the loo every two or two-and-a-half hours, which means about four trips per night Shock i don't mind too much as i fall asleep again quite quickly. i seem to recall from my first pregnancy a few years ago that by the end, my loo trips were hourly! i'm drinking a lot of water during the day though...

I went roughly hourly in the third trimester. It was very trying indeed.

Hi, am nearly 37 weeks and go around 3 times a night a few weeks ago it was more like 4 or 5.
I am also awake pretty much every hour feeling like I need to go, but know it's just baby bouncing on my bladder.
it's fun isn't it?

Guacamole · 29/10/2010 14:11

When I was pregnant I had to go 3-4 times a night... My DH joked that we'd get more sleep after the baby was born... We don't! :)

clarabellarocks · 29/10/2010 14:11

Sometimes I amaze myself and go 2 times but like you I often go 4/5 or even 6. Thing is I'm so thirsty that as I down a glass of water just before I get into bed I know I've sealed my fate but otherwise I'll wake up thirsty.

Oh the joys!

TheMulledBloodsOnMe · 29/10/2010 14:13

I only seem to be going, at the most, once a night and that is usually the early hours of the morning. I do try and hold on though as I'm loathe to get out of bed and I know that my bladder can hold it so I just sort of say to it 'deal with it'.

runningrach · 29/10/2010 14:16

I'm every couple of hours at 36 weeks, it's a nightmare rolling out of bed. Try not to drikn too much at night but I wake up dehydrated usually get through two glasses of water just during the night.

I don't get more than an hours sleep at a time anyway as I'm so uncomfortable sleeping on my side, need to roll over to the other side and get shoulder and muscle aches. Shifting to the right mu bump is so uncomfortable. I don't think I've put on excessive weight to cause that (from 9st to 10st10). Sad

I go about 3 times a night and have since the very beginning with no let up.

sotough · 29/10/2010 16:26

thanks for your replies - my four or five times a night sounds fairly normal then. i also drink a lot in the night or i get a really sore, dry throat. husband disappeared to the spare bedroom a long time ago...
running well done on your modest weight gain! i'm really hoping to keep my weight gain at around two stone this time. it took so long to lose it last time round.

At its worst, 4 or 5 times a night. Recently, I think the baby may have shifted off a bit, so 2 or 3 times?

PaigeTurner · 29/10/2010 19:18

I can still go straight through sometimes but usually have to get up once now I'm 30 weeks. I must have a bladder the size of a football Grin

islandbaby · 29/10/2010 19:29

Making about 4 trips a night at 35 weeks here. As irritating as it is, I'm just trying to accept it, roll out of bed, wee quickly and get back in as quick as possible. If I lie there and hope to go back to sleep without having to get up I end up just staying awake fretting about wetting the bed... better just to get it over with I find.

Pootle78 · 29/10/2010 19:31

None if I can get away with it! Another here who prefers to lay in bed and go back to sleep instead of the loo, luckily my bladder can hold it at the moment! I also find that if I go to the loo, wiggle wakes up and I am awake for the next 2 hours whilst a gymnatic marathon takes place, followed by a bit of tap dancing!!!

cotswolder · 29/10/2010 20:03

I'm also 29 weeks and going about 4 times a night so glad I'm not the only one! The need wakes me up and go immediatly rather than trying to put it off. Worst thing for me seems to be that while I really really need the loo day and night, not alot seems to come out Confused, assume the little bugger is sitting right on top of my bladder!

One point I have been told - not sure whether true or not - but have been advised to go to the loo when needed as holding it in can create a urinary infection!

PipIsOutNow · 31/10/2010 18:09

honestly? every hour towards the end!! really pissed me off!! (no pun intended!!)

Giddyup · 31/10/2010 18:45

39+6 (eeks) and its hourly for me

jaffacake2 · 31/10/2010 18:47

Its natures way of getting you ready to be up every 2-3 hrs to feed a baby !

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 31/10/2010 19:51

Probably once, only sometimes twice. I thought that was bad enough - I feel quite lucky now!

GoldenKippers · 01/11/2010 09:10

Usually I have to go a couple of times before I even fall asleep! And then maybe 2 or 3 times in the night (I'm 35 weeks). I usually had to go once in the night before I got pregnant, however.

DinosaurRumpus · 01/11/2010 09:38

5 times last night!

I'm due on Friday so hopefully not long now!

northlondonchoclover · 01/11/2010 10:56

Once.. started to get stretchmarks! Argh.. its like a cat scratched my belly overnight

DuelingFanjo · 01/11/2010 11:52

I'm 34 weeks and usually manage just once but sometimes twice.
