Hiya, am in day three of contractions etc, what my midwife is calling 'latent' labour but starting to find it a bit of a slog. Had a small show on Monday night after an examination, then much bigger one today. At last check yesterday I was 2-3cms dilated although presumably am a bit more now. Midwife told me it's very common to have early stage contractions during the evening and night, then stop in the morning- which is what's happened with me two days running. The few hours leading up to dawn have been worst for me- every 3-5 minutes and lasting at least a minute. Then they just stop. At least I am getting a bit of sleep between 8am and about noon, but starting to get a bit down about it and not looking forward to tonight if the same thing happens again. Have been taking warm baths and am very attached to my Tens machine! Anyone have some words of comfort/advice/going through the same thing?

Sorry to hear this, you are doing really well and getting closer though.

My first labour was a bit like this - my waters broke on the Friday night and contractions were stopping and starting for the whole weekend. I finally had to be induced (but only because my waters had already gone).

Things will probably start to speed up as you become more dilated.

Try to sleep as much as you can when things are quiet and move as much as you can when you are having contractions.

Good luck x
