Pregnancy

Scared and upset :-(

Hello all,
I have just joined mumsnet and want to see if anyone could give me some advice or reassurance. I am currently 7 + 4 days pregnant with my first child. It was unplanned and a bit of a shock but now my partner of 11 years and I are really excited and totally want this baby. I have had sore breasts and a bit of morning sickness but it has subsided a wee bit over the past few days. I was feeling fine this morning, a bit dizzy and nauseous but otherwise fine, but about an hour ago I passed some blood and a small clot the size of a baby fingernail - I only noticed when I went to the toilet. But I have had no pain at all. The doctor is making me an appointment for an early scan over the next few days and told me not to worry too much but I can't help it. I was just wondering if anyone has ever been in the same situation and what the result was for them.
Thanks xx

I have had a bit of spotting with both my pregnancies, including a small brown clot with DD1.

It can be a normal part of a healthy pregnancy. No pain is a good sign

How much bleeding was there and what colour was it? Are you still bleeding now?

You will rarely find a woman who has been pregnant who doesn't have a 'bleed' story - seriously, i don't know why it's not made more common.

I had one in both of my pregnancies - one was like you describe and the other was more 'gooey' (sorry) and both at 8 weeks.

I wish you all the best and good luck with your scan Smile.

Thanks for the replies and good wishes. The bleeding was just apparent when I wiped but it was bright red and the clot was like a wee piece of liver. It seems to be gone now though. Glad to hear it might be nothing. What a confusing and scary time this is!

Yes, as the other ladies' said, it really is quite common to have a bleed - although with my first 3 dc's I didn't, this time I had a bit of bleeding between 6 and 8 weeks, (over my wedding!) and was relieved to have a scan that showed that everything was ok.
And then at 16 weeks I had a MASSIVE bleed, all over my celebrity client's living room floor as I taught his son a 'cello lesson!) The family were fabulous - drove me down to A & E and waited with me until I saw a doctor.
I really thought that the pg was going to be over - there was a SERIOUS amount of blood. They kept me in overnight, and the bleeding slowed to a stop and the next morning, they dopplered me and found a heartbeat. DH and I were in tears with relief!
So try not to panic - the waiting's horrible, but hopefully everything will be fine!

Yep, I had a bleed. A big scary one.

Everything was fine at the scan, fine 2 weeks later, fine at 11 weeks and fine at 13, still fine now at 16 weeks. (I have one overscanned baby here!).

No explanation given although lots of scary words muttered the first time.

I think it's very, very common.

@frakkinstein It is reassuring to hear from other people who have been through it with positive outcomes. It's hard not to fear the worst (and melt my own head Googling miscarriage stories) but I'm glad to hear from other people who have been through a similiar thing. Cannot wait for this all to be over and just (hopefully) have my baby here to play with!

Hi all,

Am just back from the hospital and despite my utter belief that I was miscarrying, I had a scan and saw bambino and it's little heart flicker. Am all over the place with emotion! Could hardly drive home!I got a wee pic to show my partner and so while it's still early days at least everything is normal right now.
Thanks for all your support and kind words yesterday - it really helped.
Good luck to all of you xx

So pleased to you! It's an indescribable feeling, isn't it? I don't think anyone who hasn't been through it can really understand.
