Transverse now oblique - good sign?

Hi,

I am 36 weeks pg with DC3 and baby has been transverse since 20 weeks.

I also have Gestational Diabetes, GBS and a history of very quick labours! so have been advised to have either an induction of labour or C-Section at 38weeks dependent on baby's position.

I am keen to aviod C-Section if possible (although am trying to keep open mind) and have been doing the exersises recommended to me by my MW.

I saw my MW this am and baby now oblique and I have a scan to decide mode of delivery next tuesday. My MW thinks that it is still very unlikely that baby will become cephalic Sad but I was wondering if anybody had had a similar experience and gone on to have a normal vaginal delivery?

Hi, no experience but didn't want to leave you unanswered. DD was transverse, then oblique then head down but back to back but this happened over about weeks 32-35 IIRC.

I think if your baby is now oblique then it might be on the move from the transverse to head down position? Could they try an ECV if baby is oblique? I thought it was standard to offer this prior to going for c-section.

Have you looked at the spinning babies website?

My DS was transverse until 37 weeks then he turned. I have no idea what position he was in but I had a natural birth (with some help from forceps).

Thanks ladies, i've been told that they won't try ECV as I have had previous problems wih placental abruption - wish I wasn't so bloody complicated!

Wholelottalove thank you for the website I will definately be looking at that.

Crazyplatelady good to know there is still time for baby to turn. By the way love your name :o
