OK to eat sausages during pregnancy?

Is it? I was flicking through one of those pregancy guides at the antenatal clinic when I noticed that, in the same category as liver products, they'd advised against eating sausage, because of high retinol. Now, was this a printing error, had they meant to put 'liver sausage' or do ordinary sausages contain liver, I thought not!

Have not eaten many sausages but ate a couple of supermarket packaged ones in a stew early on (about 4 weeks into pregnancy)

I've heard that eating too much nitrate, often found in processed meats like sausage, isn't good either.

Sausages are fine, liver sausage isn't as too much vitamin A in liver.

I hope not, there was a period of 2 weeks where I was living on sausage sandwiches!
