As above.I'm not pg (yet).I had a mc a few months ago, booked my 1st appointment after test came up positive. It was my 1st pregnancy so I was a bit of an ignorant and did as it said on the test(contact your GP).The midwife greeting words were"you're coming too early, you can still miscarry".It was like a slap on my face, unfortunately that's what happend a few days later(I was 6 wks pg). So?Next time wait until 8?10?how long?

Thats crap of the midwife! I went to the drs and booked a gp appointment about 4/5 weeks, he did a few tests (blood pressure , weight etc) then i got a phone call from my midwife and she came to see me about 8 weeks. In my 1st pregnancy i didnt see my mw til about 10 weeks

You can miscarry at any point up until 24 weeks (after which it's a stillbirth/premature labour not a miscarriage!). So in one respect she was talking nonsense.

Miscarriages before 6 weeks are very common however, so I would maybe wait until 6 weeks before booking anything.

It depends a lot on how long it takes to get a booking in appointment and scan appointment - at my surgery there was a little wait, so although I booked it at 5/6 weeks I didn't see the MW until 8 weeks. And as I had to have the booking in apt before booking my scan, I wouldn't have wanted to leave it much later than that.

Now I've got some more info about mc's than I had before, but if they knew it's so common (I didn't have a clue)why they won't ask for some details over the phone and make an appointment a few weeks later? She(MW) really put me off, next time I'm not going to go there until I have to,hence the question. Thanks for the answers
