Morning Sickness - Did you get it and what week did it start?

Hello all,

I was wondering how many of you got morning sickness, and if you had it, approximately what week did it start?

I am 6 weeks and so far so good. My sister has had 3 children, and for the first two, she didn't get any sickness, and for her last, she had some nausea but no vomitting.

I normally have a weak stomach anyway and throw up at the slightest thing so quite surprised it hasn't started yet. So I'm wondering what other people's experiences are?

I had it from about 6 or 7 weeks in both pregnancies (one boy, one girl).

Was throwing up a few times a day (more in the evening) until about 12 weeks. Not exactly nice but I got through it.

I got it from week 9 til week 14.. i would throw up only sometimes in the morning felt queezy through the day and then at night i would only sometimes throw up again. it then stopped and i am now 3 days over due and for the last couple of weeks sometimes here and there when i eat i feel queezy again but not throwing up.

Hope u dnt get it, its not nice lol good luck :)

I got it from about week 7.... Just felt a bit nauseous.... Then from week 9 I was actually sick every morning and every evening when I cleaned my teeth until week 16 :(

Atomant · 25/10/2010 03:58

Felt nauseous at week 5, sickness started at week 6, threw up at least twice every day (morning & evening) and felt nauseous all day until week 18. Insomnia started at week 20....Felt brilliant for 2 weeks, all worth it though even as I lie here awake at 4am listening to DD chatting in her cot Smile

Hi TransatlanticCityGirl I am on 3rd pregnancy, I had dreadful nausea with DD all day long all the way through pregnancy right from 4 and a half weeks , with DS it was not so bad started again early at 5 weeks-ish and lasted until about 20 weeks.
This time I am 6+3 and so far just felt queasy for a week, and even that has gone away now. There has been a 10 year break between my DS and now, and it would seem older mums don't get it as bad? according to some googling I have done.
Although that does sound different to you sis who had the reverse!

Hello there,
I'm 13 weeks and I haven't been sick at all. To be honest, it would have been more reassuring if I'd been barfing, because I didn't really have any sure-fire pregnancy signs until I saw the little thing on Friday at the scan! Two of my friends got their morning sickness at 16 weeks though, so I'm not holding my breath for an 'easy' pregnancy yet!

ariane5 · 25/10/2010 08:49

got it at 5 weeks with all 3 of my pregnancies and it stopped at 20 wks. wasnt the best time to be honest but i just about got through it.was sick every day Sad

PaigeTurner · 25/10/2010 09:56

Started at 6+3 and ended at 20 weeks.

Floois · 25/10/2010 10:02

About 8 to 12 weeks, was never sick just felt it whenever I was slightly hungry. Eat all the time!

shongololo · 25/10/2010 10:04

differet with different kids, but sick with all three.

All started about 7 weeks.

DD stopped at 14 weeks
DS1 stopped at 22 weeks
DS2 stopped at 18 weeks.

I would puke every morning, feel nauseous all day and puke every evening. With DS1, I weighed less at 22 weeks than when I concieved him. I caught up though!

I tried every remedy known to womankind, but nothing really helped stop the nausea. Mildly spicy food did stay down better than "nursery" food.

monkey32 · 25/10/2010 10:20

I have had different sickness with all three pregnancies.

DS - started feeling sick about 16 weeks. Odd I know. Wasn't actually sick very often just nauseated. Went on until about week 32.

DD - started feeling sick about 7 weeks. Was sick occasionally but felt sick all day every day until week 16.

DC3 - started feeling sick at about 5 weeks, am now 10 weeks and feel dreadful all day every day. Am not actually sick, but do have some retching. Food does help but I so bored of eating when I'm not hungry just to keep nausea at bay. Am really hoping it will end nice and early this time!

TooImmature2BMum · 25/10/2010 13:41

Started feeling queasy at about 6 weeks, especially if didn't eat breakfast. Was never actually sick, but felt wretched all morning at work a few times, and couldn't stand being in the shower unless bathroom door was open because the steam made me feel sick. It seemed to be very closely related to tiredness in me - was much worse after a weekend staying at my dad's playing with my small half-siblings, who get up much earlier in the morning than I like to. It stopped at about 10 or 11 weeks and I've been fine since (am 21 weeks now). I was lucky, though - it was only bad every now and then, and from reading stories on here I know it could have been much worse!

tablefor3 · 25/10/2010 15:15

Like your sister haven't had it at all with either pregnancy.

TheMulledBloodsOnMe · 25/10/2010 15:20

I got it from week 7 with both pregnancies. They both lasted well into the 2nd trimester. My 1st pregnancy was more intense MS in the morning and I would end up throwing up like clockwork about 11am, my 2nd pregnancy the MS seemed to last all day, worse in the evenings but less throwing up in the mornings, more in the evenings and generally feeling more feeling nauseous.

Toothbrushing always seemed to set me off so I went a large chunk of the 1st trimester with only brushing my teeth in the evenings! Out of the 2 I prefered the throwing up in the morning as it went then and I could get on with things. Grin

Nothing with DS- was too busy working to pay attention.
Week 7 to 20 with DD. no vomitting but constantly queasy and dizzy had to lie down. Think it was because I was too iddle! had nothing else to focus on.

suiledonne · 25/10/2010 15:40

On dd1 I started being sick at 5 weeks and carried on until ......... she was born Sad. It was horrible. I was hospitalised a few times due to dehydration.

On dd2 it started a bit later around 6 or 7 weeks and I thought I had escaped. That time lasted until 13 weeks and then stopped as quickly as it started. Came back a bit towards the end but nothing like I had on dd1.

I have lots of friends who just had a bit of nausea so you won't necessarily be sick at all.

Good luck.

suiledonne · 25/10/2010 15:42

slim22 Don't think it has anything to do with being busy/idle. I was working when I got pregnant on dd1 but had to stop as I wasn't even able to gte out of bed most of the time.

TheMulledBloodsOnMe · 25/10/2010 15:47

Slim- are you saying that the poor women who suffer with MS so bad that they cannot function normally are this way because they are not busy enough? Or being idle? I find that comment insulting. My MS had absoloutly nothing to do with my work load. It was there if I was busy and there if I was resting. I hope you aren't so insensitive to any women you meet in real life who might be suffering. Hmm

LadyInPink · 25/10/2010 15:52

A day after i took the test so about 5 wks. Sick every day several times until about 7mths. Didn't mind tho as had had MC few months before and i took that as a sign everything was ok this time (apparently that isn't the case every time but was in mine).

Every pregnancy is different - enjoy it though and Congratulations Smile

ariane5 · 25/10/2010 15:55

wow very def has nothing to do with how much/little you do.

i had extremely bad ms with all 3 of mine (was hospitalised at 12 weeks with dd1 and on medication with ds and d2 but it didnt help)

have to say though it was worst with my 3rd and thats when i was at my busiest with 2 other kids to take care of, school run etc so being busy very def doesnt make it any easier to handle.

maybe for some with mild nausea being busy might take your mind off it but if you have ms like i did nothing seems to help and it takes over every waking moment of your life, i found it hellish to be honest

ariane5 · 25/10/2010 15:57

sorry meant to say though it did go completely at 20wks each time so dont want to be the bearer of a completely negative pregnancy horror story!

lucielooo · 25/10/2010 16:02

I had it to varying degrees from about 6 weeks to 10 weeks, though not at all really in week 7. I was only actually sick twice first time because I drank 2 pints of water on an empty stomach and second time because there was a little bit of poo in the toilet (not mine) and it made me gag. (tmi sorry!)

Basically I just felt varying degrees of nauseous for a few weeks but was very lucky overall!

lucielooo · 25/10/2010 16:07

And in terms of idle/busy.. being idle made me feel much better :) Mine definitely seemed to be tiredness related. I did LOL at the idea of 'keeping busy' stopping morning sickness though :)

eeyore2 · 25/10/2010 16:10

Started feeling sick week 6, started being sick week 7, finished around week 16/17
