Painful Sex

Hi, I've name changed as I'm a bit embraassed and would really appreciate any advice.

I'm 34 weeks pregnant and finding sex to be incredibly painful; tried this morning and had to stop as DH felt massive and I felt like I was very dry Blush and it just felt too painful. DH said I wasn't dry but he couldn't get all the way in, IYSWIM (God I'm sorry for amount of TMI!).

I'm just a bit worried as I thought sex was supposed to be ok during pregnancy but it just hasn't been possible.

I haven't got any great advice but I'm 23 weeks with my second and have been experiencing something similar.

Last pregnancy was the opposite and sex was great (which means DP probably has more expectations) but this time it feels sort of 'tight' and uncomfortable. Because of this I am finding it harder to relax which is a bit of a vicious circle.
Sorry I don't have a more helpful response but wanted to let you know you're not the only one!

I've been quite swollen ( Blush ) which doesn't help - sounds like you had the same issue. Also so sensitive that I feel drier than I am. It's got worse the more pregnant I get.

Thrush can also make sex very painful so if you've any other symptoms, might be worth getting checked out. But I think what you're describing is pretty normal tbh.

Me too - I posted asking for advice about my painful perineum yesterday! I don't think it helps that in the late stages the baby's head presses down and compresses everything so the logistics are harder to arrange, iyswim. I'm hoping things will get back to normal post-baby.

I had this for a couple of weeks - turns out its to do with the hormones etc.

I asked and was told that you can get swelling down there ar any stage in pregnancy, and can even get problems with blood rushing there/ varacouse veins. Also was told that hormones can affect and make you 'drier' down there than you could otherwise be. Sometimes this can be worse during final weeks as more pressure on lower part of your body.

If it helps to know, I stopped suffering from this after a couple of weeks, although at 36 weeks am expecting it to come back! Was told that all would return to normal a few weeks after birth anyway! Wink

My DH won't come near me when I'm pg- says it doesn't feel right- so I think you're lucky to even have a go!! So no, I don't think being dry is unusual.
