Hello all (tentively waves to everyone as I move from the conception threads)

I got a BFP this morning, very early days i know but I was just wondering when I need to go to the doctors?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

congrats on the BFP!

i'd just give them a call and ask them what to do, whether they'd like you to speak to the GP first, or just book in with the midwife in a few weeks.

i remember calling a couple of days after the BFP (i think it took that long for it to sink in!) and they made me an appointment for about a month later. they wanted to see me at about 8 weeks, but i was actually more like 10 when i went due to work commitments.

some surgeries are different, and like you to meet the GP first, so i'd just give them a call next week.

good luck x

Depends on the surgery. Mine doesn't 'book' you before 8 weeks and you need one appointment with GP and one with midwife, although GP and I agree that the GP appointment is quite pointless.

Congratulations.

With ours you don't see the GP, just the midwife at around 8-1- weeks for the booking appointment.

Congratulations btw Smile

Same with me - GP wasn't interested. MW phoned me and reminded me to take folic acid, and not eat soft cheese, but otherwise it was all a bit of an anti-climax. Nothing happened for ages....

my GP is different i got my BFP an went to the docs the next day were she wrote to the hospital to get me an appointment for my booking scan, i was literally only 5 weeks pregnant at the time, it cant hurt to pop in an see :)

lennon80 · 24/10/2010 19:57

I went at about five weeks just to ensure I was in the system. I got my first scan (they dont do anything really up until this) at 11 weeks 5 days. No harm in going now but equally if you left it a few weeks it wouldnt matter. They only really start properly monitoring you after 12 weeks.

Thank you all lovely ladies,

I will give them a call tomorrow and see how they do it.
